    hey guys,

I’m wondering if anyone could shed some light on something I ran into today.

I was looking at buying the amp research Powersteps. I ran across some information that said the plug and play ones only work on tundras that were built prior to July 2017. The reason was that Toyota started using the 2018 software on the cpu from July 2017.

Seems strange to start using newer programming in a truck that doesn’t need it.

    Any insight would be great!

    Thanks

I think each year, the following year's truck is released in June/ July. Is that what you mean?

Not what I am referring to. What I mean is that if you have a 2017 that was built in July or later of 2017 the plug and play version will not work you have to get the hard wired version of the Powersteps.

“The first thing I would have you do is verify when your vehicle was built. If the Tundra was built in June or prior, it would be a 2017. If built July or after, the onboard software would be a 2018. There is no plug and play option available for any of the 2018 or newer Tundra vehicles.”

That is a quote from an Amp rep.
