Well I am just wondering if anyone has this same issue. When I tow my 4200# deck over trailer my Tundra will not engage the trailer brakes with the first step of the brake pedal about 99% of the time. Usually I have to pump the pedal a second time for them to engage. Any ideas?

Wasn't there some kind of software update for the brake controller in trucks from around that time or something like that?

There is but it pertains to a condition of brakes having a non normal feel. This is different than mine. Mine simply don't work unless you slightly lift foot off of pedal then step down again.Kind of like pumping them.

Have you used the truck to pull another trailer with brakes? Same issue? Could be something with the trailer.

Stock controller is marginal at best. Many remove it and use a tekonsha p3. There are install kits available to put the P3 in the stock location and it is an excellent brake controller.
