Bought the truck used 2 years ago with 36k miles…& it now has 85k miles. It has Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT 275/65R18 tires on it and they look good and drive good….but Toyota dealer who did oil change recently said they have low tread, some dry rot, & uneven wear….2 were made on the 39th week of 2019, 1 was made on the 29th week of 2019, and 1 was made on the 7th week of 2020…..so I am pricing some new ones, but was wondering if there are any other options I should look at.

Mostly local driving, some hwy driving, occasional summer beach driving, and some dirt road driving during huntin season. Also tow a Basstracker twice a month to local bass tournaments March-October. Jeez…I just read that back and it sounds like I’m living the Life of Riley!! Lol
I saw the Discoverers are going for about $285-300 each….but my pal in the tire business recently said they are actually the wrong tire …they are 10 ply and ride rougher n less mileage.

Yokohama Geolander AT XD, fairly new design and so far it checks all the boxes for me. I'm about 10k into my first set and they top the BFG, Hercules, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Khumho, and Yokohama GO15 series tires that I have tried previously. They are supposedly a commercial duty tire and I got 285/75 18's for about $285 ea.

Sounds like you’re living the good life. For what you’re doing — mix of highway, dirt, towing — it makes sense to look for something a bit smoother than 10-ply unless you're hauling heavy all the time. I’d check out pneusquebec.net — they specialize in heavy-duty stuff, but their prices and selection are solid, and they might have something in your size that rides better for your use case.
