hi all. new to the forum and tundras. my 5100s are due in this week to replace the 4600s. i will set the front at the mid setting to get more towards level.

i have the skills, but not the bandwidth to install the fronts. my local reputable shop will handle that, i'll install the rear. they have an alignment rack and will do that following the install.

lots of leveled tundras around town, gotta imagine this is not their first time on tundras and certainly not their first time replacing struts. are there any snafus to be aware of or is it pretty straightforward.

If your rear shock top nuts are frozen you’ll take longer doing the rears than the fronts.
I had to cut one nut off the rear of my Tundra to install the rears.
Just did a buddy’s Tacoma and had to cut both.
Probably should get a nut buster. It is a tight squeeze to the top nut on the Tundra. Thought about pulling the bed but was able to get it.

OME Nitrocharger/2612 (front), Bilstein 5100s (rear). Vanguard roll bar modified (by me) to fit over Patriot Stealth retractable tonneau. Aftermarket halo headlights with HID, various LED bulb replacements. 17" Fuel Blitz wheels with some 33" Nitto terra grapplers. Hoodscoop, nfab nerfbars, Bushwacker flares. No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
^ Nuts were frozen on my Tundra, had to cut also. The Bilstein 5100s are nice, but I did have to send my first set back, truck went from driving like a Cadi to rattling my teeth out. Second set plus some OME coils and its back to a nice ride.

You might be happier to have them do everything at once and pick it up...ready to go!

I went your with your original idea and had my mechanic install the fronts.

Well... I was mopey and annoyed for a week until I could install the rear lift and shocks myself.

In hindsight, I should of had it done at once for two reasons. It sometimes it pays to not bust out the tools and damn, these 35s are almost as heavy as me!

thanks guys for the heads up on the rear shock nuts. i'll role under there and take peak, also soak it with pb blaster.

i'm running 275/70-18s if i recall correctly, not a huge tire.

another question, this will be primarily a street driver in snow country. occasional forest service fire roads. will the oem springs be sufficient with the 5100s?
