I have a Tundra that started leaking power steering fluid. Took it to the shop to get checked out. They could not find where it was leaking from. I was told it will need to have the frame removed from the cab to see where it's leaking from. I was also told it may need a part that cost 2 - 3k just for the part. If that's it?? 600 for new lines and approx 8 to 10 hrs labor. Does this sound right. ?? I can't find any parts online for that cost. Any help would be great. Thanks so much

First they say they can’t find where the leak is coming from but suggest a very expensive job I would get 2nd and 3rd opinions. My guess it’s an o ring or steering rack. The power steering system is high pressure, shouldn’t be too hard to find the leak

on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the leak?

No. The most expensive part is the rack which can cost $350-600, never heard of dropping the frame but have heard of removing the front diff if you have 4x4. The entire job could cost $3k parts + labor

There are some YouTube videos that would give you an idea about the job

Is your trucks steering any different since the leaking started?

That's what I've been seeing. Around 600 plus core cost. Yes it's a 4x4. They said they have to have the wheels on the ground and cab in the air to find the leak. 8 to 10 hr job. Thanks for your info. Seemed very high to me.
