2014 Tundra JBL system update experience

Newer member here but just wanted to share my experience with my jbl oem nav system on my new to me 2014 Tundra.

After reading here and searching threads for some time I had some issues I was able to resolve this evening and thought I would share.

Upon buying the truck my trip home the unit would reboot, black screen, my android phone would drop after 45 seconds of calling and say call ended even when I didn't hang up etc etc.

I setup entune and it did run an ota (over the air) update, but I still continued to have issues. I did notice after the ota update I did have more apps etc but it still seemed slow, would reboot and calls would still hang.

After researching some more I went to https://www.toyota.com/firmware-updates and put in my vin and downloaded the update. I then put in a usb drive that was formatted to FAT file system which is the default. I loaded the usb drive into the truck and I could never get it to recognize. I then tried other small usb drives and had the same issue. I then formatted the thumb drive to FAT32 file system (right click on thumb drive when in my computer file and click on format).



I then reloaded the file onto the usb drive and success! So far so good!

I am hopeful it will help with some other issues I was having and will update the thread when I get some time to do a full days worth of testing.

Just thought I would post in case others are having issues. I was really frustrated I couldn't get my usb to recognize and it simply ended up being a formatting issue.

I believe I am now on the most recent version of the software.
