I have a 2014 tundra crewmax. One fine day my backup camera went black and the stereos volume reduced to a whisper. Took it to Yoda where I live, they said I needed a new camera , and take out the Head Unit . Dollar bills for sure.
While I was thinking it over, while driving, the stereo got loud and lo and behold the camera worked . Toyota said the stereo and backup camera were on different systems.
Over the last few months the two units have come and gone multiple times.
I have checked fuses, relays, connections to amp etc. Very frustrating to say the least as the dealer has not been able to track down any information on this problem. Looking for help lol
I did find one post who had the same problem, but sounds like it had fixed itself

Hey Byron, were you able to figure out a fix on this issue?

I have the exact same issue on my 2014 Tundra Crewmax.

I hear a pop on the speakers, the volume is reduced, and the backup camera stops working. Every once in a while the pop will happen again, the volume goes back to normal, the camera starts working again.
The other thing I noticed is that the weather signal never comes through, as well as the time on the stereo screen disappears.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Yeah, I had the same issue with my JBL head unit. It would also sometimes freeze and I would have no audio/video. I have a 2014 Tundra Crewmax. Got tired of it and replaced it with aftermarket. No issues for 2+ years.

Sounds like your amp is on its way out... or you need to look at all the grounds...

Has anyone found a resolution for this, I’m having the same problem now. Can’t use voice on Bluetooth, clock is dim and backup camera stopped working all at the same time.

I have a 2014 Tundra Tundra Xtra Cab SR5, and I am experiencing exactly the same problems, volume goes on and off, bluetooth not connecting intermittently, and back up camera not working on and off... when it's not working, for no reason, a loud pop and suddenly everything is fine again... till it's not working again. Everything is factory installed on my truck. No one knows why this is happening, including the Toyota dealer... Very frustrating!!!

My husband had this issue last week, it was the head behind the stereo. It cost him over $1000. He got a discount. He said it will probably cost you around $1800.

Same issue here. 2014 Tundra backup camera blank and no volume on stereo. Going to keep checking back here to see if anyone finds a resolution, but sounds like its the head unit.

What do you mean by "head unit"?

The head unit is the part of the stereo system that we see at the center of the dashboard. This unit is like the command center of the entire audio system. The passengers interact with it and decide what kind of music they want to listen to, the volume, or the radio channel. (per google)

I made a post about this same issue...2014sr5
It just started working again on its own...well until tonight.
It will probably make a loud pop(amp) and start working again, who knows
Id buy a new aftermarket unit but if the amps gone, not sure its going to work?

I have a 2015 SR5 Longbed with the same issue, the head unit is intermittent which includes the backup camera. Add one more symptom - The head unit now stays on with the Key Removed. Dead battery resulted over Labor Day weekend. The fuse that controls it is #21, 20 Amp, RAD NO.1. If I Pull it, them it is off and battery is ok. I am stumped.
