I'm trying to find an answer to my situation. I have a 2014, SR5 4x4. The other day I used my remote start (tech 12 volts from James Randy Taylor) to crank the truck. Got in, and my dome lights flashed in unison with my door ajar light on the dash. Tried opening and closing all of the doors, no solution. It happens randomly while driving, during left turns, and sometimes when pressing the accelerator. Also, if I lift up on the E-brake foot lever, I can create the issue. Now, I'm having random triggers on the horn alarm, because the truck things the doors are opening from inside, after being locked by the fob.

I'm taking it to dealer for them to look at it on Tuesday, as I have an extended warranty. Should I be worried about the aftermarket remote start I installed? It's a Fortin Brand for the G Key, 3 presses on the lock button to crank.

I don't know. I think it is just a faulty door ajar switch, the image on the gauge panel shows the drive door open, so I'm assuming that door ajar switch could be bad. However, it doesn't make sense for it to happen when I lift up on the E brake or make a left turn.

    Any ideas on my situation?

    A couple of my ideas
Have you tried unhooking the remote start? Could be a short or loose connection in the unit or harness giving you the false door ajar.
The actual door switch could be shorting or grounding out.
I’m leaning more towards the first because of the situation with the e brake and turning that could be enough to move the alarm module around with the loose connection.

I would guess either a loose ground or the door switch has a loose wire.

However, I seem to recall something about a hood latch pin needing to be installed if you wanted to start the truck with the hood up. Otherwise, you have to set the module a certain way to bypass that. Maybe the module is not set up properly and "thinks" the hood is unlatched in some situations? OP- do you remember what you did with this part of the install?

The remote start was my issue.
Going to have to figure out how to wire it correctly.
