I think that the weather info is transmitted by hd radio. I could be wrong though

    Welcome!

Nope i'm still running the factory head unit. The weather and navigation works fine for me.

If i replace it, i'll go with a kenwood, or the tesla style ones if they ever work out all the bugs.

I have a 2016 with entune plus (I think it called) uses the nav through Bluetooth phone connection. It was annoying to set up. But finally the nav system prompted me for an update out of the blue in a Home Depot parking lot. I let it do it’s thing and the scout app connected and it started working. Truth be known. That nav system interface sucks and is nowhere as good as my old Garmin. The scout app needs to be linked to toyota. Anyhow the concept is a great idea if only the system would simply cast the phone nav system into the truck screen it would be perfect. The technology for that is simple. It’s much more profitable to sell a full nav system.
