Hey gang, My T100 is getting long in the tooth and I ran across a one owner CA. 2013 2WD SR5, 4.6 with 81k on it. A really nice truck. It'll do everything I want it to but I'm spoiled by the reliability and ease of a no frills truck like my T100. I wasn't even looking to get a newer one but... So, would you buy one again?
    TIA

If 2wd is all you need why not? My 2012 4.6l is at over 120,000 now. Still feels new and strong.

That depends upon what you are going to use if for. You live in CA so long as you stay on paved roads a 2wd is fine. I have a 2013 4.6 and it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. But I live in MN so I need 4wd.

Fairly low mileage on it. I had a 2013 2wd 4.6 DC that I sold in 2020 when I bought my new one. Mine had 97K. Solid vehicle.

I've had my 2WD T100 since new, it's a 1995. Play in the snow and desert with it regularly and it's still my DD.
I like my 5 speed manual transmission but my better half won't drive a manual. Only an issue in an emergency or since we retired sharing the driving on a road trip might be nice!
It bugs me because I wasn't looking and this one I came across has all the maintanance history and has never been out of Ca. or used for work. UGH!

If you need 4wd or not is your call. Personally I wouldn't get a 4.6, more power and support for the 5.7. Though either would be a huge step up over the 3.4 you have, but if you're gonna buy a new truck may as well get the big powerplant imo.

Would the chance of Cam Tower Leaks or Secondary Air Pump failure be a primary reason Not to buy a Used Tundra?

The only reason NOT to buy a used Tundra would be that you have a manual 5-speed T100..... I mean, those are basically unicorns now....

I know, but it's been really good to me! Plus I'll miss my Manual Transmission.
Is there a tipping point on mileage. So far the ones I've found that more than fit my needs are 120k or less.

Would you be able to keep the T100 as a weekend "pleasure" vehicle? If so, keep it as it is super hard to come by one that's not trashed.
For a 2013, I would guess anywhere from 120K -200k is fine, but what you need to worry more about is the underside rusting (I know, CA might have some, too, if they take to the mountains too much, or are literately on the beach side, both are rust-induction points) and maintenance, especially for older truck, what has/has not been worked on/repaired/replaced. Those would play in a factor, just by mere look will not be enough, have it inspected.

Would like to keep the T100 but the lack of space makes it a nightmare. other toys including a pristine 1993 MR2 gets 1st choice for parking. :)
Currently the one I'm leaning towards has 80k on it and was purchased here in SoCal and never left. Dealer maintained.
I crawled under it and annoyed the sales rep with me poking at the frame. Nothing note-able but it wasn't on a lift.
Been around these as a mechanic for a long time but never worked on a 2nd Gen Tundra.

GAHHH.... If you weren't so far I would have bought your T100.... that MR2 is on my list, too....
I wouldn't blame that the Mr2 gets priority parking in this case, even the new Tundra (if ever) would have to sleep outside...
Ask if they would allow you take for a 3rd party independent inspection for a better look.
Most CA vehicles are OK, but like I said, beach side ones are bad, especially no one really expects it.
I have been around Monterey are and some look awesome on top, but frame rusted out like termite got them for dessert....

If you like it that much, take it. But do sell T100 to someone who will love it.... I know I would.

    It'll get inspected for sure!
I'm a Mod over on ToyotaNation so I just put the word out I was on the fence, we'll see where it goes if anywhere. Would rather sell it to a T100 Cult Member than trade it in.
Not a money issue. I'm the original owner and only driver it's had behind the wheel.
Yeah, if the MR2 doesn't get the prime garage space I'll be sleeping in my truck!

The 4.6 is a similar engine design as a 5.7. I owned one before this, it was a fine truck. Kicking myself for not just keeping it. It has plenty of power and i towed 5500lbs with it zero problems getting to speed

I would. I live in SoCal. I keep a mule at a place with a long rutted muddy road (right now cuz of the rain). No hills to climb, just ruts and puddles. If I use the LSD and the “1” gear, I do just fine not getting stuck.
