I've owned my 2012 Tundra double-cab, SR5, TRD, 4x4, xyz since summer of 2015. By accident I found out that the truck has an internal tire monitoring system. Does anyone rely on this system and can you add more sensors to the 4 tires on TT.

I completely ignore the light on the dash, my 07 Silverado always had the tire light on the dash, my wife’s 08 4Runner has a light on the dash, her previous rav4 had a light on the dash, my 2011 tundra currently has a light on the dash. Always ignored it. Hate tpms. My 07 Silverado had the option to view the actual psi in the tires. That was kinda handy

All 2007 up trucks I know for sure have TPMS. The 2007-2017 use it just to control an orange warning light on the dash. The 2018+ trucks actually display pressure vlaues on the lcd in the gauges.

I believe there is a way to add a 5th spare tire to the system but nobody has actual created an easy software solution to do it.

Somthing like scan gauge will read and display the values on the 2007-2017 trucks

There is one sensor in each of the 4 tires. It wirelessly relays the tire air pressure, tire air temperature and sensor battery voltage to the TPMS ecu. It operates on the same wireless frequency as the key fob that locks and unlocks the doors.

Techstream only shows 5 available slots for TPMS ID's - when adding the sensor ID's, it only prompts for 4. I don't think you can add more than that.
