    Hi all -

I purchased a 2012 Sequoia over the summer. Family and stuff hauler. LOVE it. It is the Platinum model.

The previous owner installed a Kenwood Excelon DMX907S. It has had an issue since we bought it and I am just now getting the time to do something about it.

Sometimes the entire stereo system will randomly power off and on. Sometimes this happens when hitting a bump as well, but more often than not it is usually at random.
Sometimes the speakers/sound will randomly stop working even while the music through the radio or bluetooth is still playing.
When the sound stops coming through the speakers, a hearty smack on the dashboard will more often than not lead to the sound coming back.
Sometimes when the sound has been off, and you give the dash a smack, the sound will come back on, but at times only a few speakers will be playing. Give it another whack and all of the speakers will work.

So I am wondering if it is a poor installation job and wiring is all messed up? Or if this is a bigger issue.

Curious what the thoughts are on this in here and what others have experienced?

I'm not quite ready to take it in just yet before I have a chance to ask around, just to get some general info. Last thing I want to do is go through a complete stereo replacement when it may be something like a shoddy installation and needs proper wiring.

    Thanks all

Have you pulled the head unit and checked the wiring at all? More often than not, this kind of weird shit can be attributed to people using butt connectors and them not crimping correctly. I’d pull it out of the dash and double check all the connections and solder/heat shrink them all.
