Hi all, I was in a pinch and had to get my oil changed at the local Grease Monkey vs my go-to mechanic. Two days later I notice an oil spot under the truck and see that it's leaking from the bolt next to the oil filter housing. Can anyone tell me if this is the oil filter housing drain plug or the oil cooler bolt or other? Thanks

2012 Tundra 5.7, 188k, oil changed every 5k, have never seen a leak here.

Coming from higher up than the lower housing drain. Suspect the O ring on the filter housing wasn’t changed, was mis-aligned, was over tightened, or they cracked the housing cranking it down too hard.

Is the oil filter housing pierced? Maybe from a tool?

    Agree with @KNABORES

likely o-ring damaged or in the incorrect location on the filter housing. Hopefully not a cracked housing - aluminum housing ftw.

Yet, another reason why I will do my own oil change. If I screw it up, hey, that's on me...
Best bet is to have funds handy before removing the filter housing in case you need to replace the housing as the worst case. Best case you will need a new filter and gasket and replace both of them while there, or just the gasket, have a spare filter for the future
