Looking at a 2011 Tundra with 165,000 miles. I’ve got a 2005 now. Anything I should be looking for on a 2nd gen?

Indiana? Rust on the rear half of the truck, particularly the bed (before and behind the wheel wells on the floor), bed crossmembers, frame crossmembers, and frame as it swoops up over the rear axle behind the cab. Rusted brake lines.

Vacuum noises on startup? Signs the air injection system about to take a dump.

    Leaking water pump.

Check to make sure the 4wd works and shifts, can be tempermental at first if not used recently.

Check to make sure the check engine light works, turn key to ON for a dash bulb check. Look for check engine light to illuminate.

Check door gaps and different shades of paint on different panels to see if its been wrecked or been to a body shop.

Check coolant and oil when its cold before you start it. Then listen carefully for weird noises on a cold startup. Then let it idle and run the whole time you look at it with the AC on to make sure it works when warmed up, the heat works, and the engine doesnt overheat at an idle. Stomp on the gas during test drive once the transmission is warmed up to see if it slips. Check all the windows, door locks, HVAC modes, lights to make sure they work.

Buy one from an old man if possible.
