I recently sold my 2003 TRD Tundra I had since new to a friends son. I bought a 2011 two owner 4x4 tundra that had only 100k miles and good service records at a Toyota Dealership. I have only drove it a couple thousand miles and it skipped a couple times then started stalling at stop signs and once when turning onto another street. I drove it to an Autozone and it had the MAF code. I bought one and replaced it and it drove like a champ for 2 days. Today it started doing it again. Check engine light returns and when it dies it has thrown up traction control light and 4LO light. But they go off on restart. It starts fine and it will idle in my yard without issue.

    What’s next?

Mine was doing that. It would even go into limp mode. I changed the spark plugs and the mass flow sensor. It turned out to be a simple vacuum leak on the throttle body.

get a code reader and find out what codes are active. That will help you determine where to look.

But, simple things like air filter, clean MAF, spark plugs/coils, etc should all be verified good and clean or replaced with new- typical maintenance performed.

Thanks guys I had forgotten I had made this post in my frustration to get my vehicle back running. But an update for anyone else that may experience this.

So after several days and lots of YouTube I found that the rubber seal and clamps that held the air box to the tube to the throttle bottle had came loose and was sucking in huge amounts of air on the back side. I adjusted the rubber cover and tightened it back up and have had no further issues.

thank you to those who replied and hope this helps and saves someone some money in the future. I do have a new MAF now. Lol
