Hi everyone - just got mostly done installing my new Kenwood unit (DDC6706S), touch-screen with all the bells and whistles. There's just a few things I'm not quite sure about and need a little assistance with:

    1. The USB outlet on the deck - I got the adapter that's recommended...but there's nowhere to actually plug it in to the factory harness. It doesn't plug into the factory USB plug...so I'm thinking I might need to make some modifications there?

    2. I have a few extra hookups with nowhere to plug them in. Everything appears to be working, but I'm wondering if I might just be missing something?

I'll put the pics in the first response. Thanks!

ETA - in the first pic below, this is the end off the USB from the new head unit, the end of the adapter. There's nowhere to plug it in from what I can see.

In the second pic, that's the plug that goes into the backside of the factory USB plug...obviously won't fit there.

The third pic is coming off the factory wiring harness, and is the only free plug that appear to go nowhere. It's blue and had it's own spot on the back of the factory radio. For now it's unplugged as it goes nowhere (might be the OEM mic for the hands-free?).

Well I think I got part of it figured out - it's the wrong USB adapter that I got, so I ordered the proper one. Sounds like it needs to get plugged in behind the glove boxes as well in the media center area?

Still no idea for Pic 3 now that pics 1/2 are essentially figured out!

Hmmm...so that would be super weird. I don't have GPS on it, but it was plugged into the back of the factory head unit. Would there be a GPS plugged into the back of a unit that couldn't actually use it??

You might have something there. Is it the little bump on the passenger side here?

Yep, that's the satellite radio antenna on the roof and almost definitely the connector for it inside. You'll need an adapter and aftermarket tuner if you want to use it with your new head unit.

Makes sense! Mystery solved. I don't use satellite radio at all, but I'll add an adapter in the spring anyway, as I've got to take it all apart again to install speakers and an amp. Thanks!

Found one more! Any clue what this one is? Has a blue sheath, which is different from all the others...

You might be on to something. I guess that would make sense since I'm missing the proper USB adapter...once that shows up, good chance that'll plug into it!
