Hey I have a 2010 trd off road that is making a noise like a slight growl or vibration
When I’m going fast and it’s a intermitted drap drap drap sound when going slow.
The sound Goes away when I’m in 4 high and isn’t there on first Acceleration after being taken out of 4high and into 2high Comes back on deceleration .
Pretty sure it’s coming from the driver side front differential
If I lift the wheel up and spin it I can hear the sound like three bumps once every revolution

anybody know what it is or what I need to do?

Get a (East Coast Gear Supply) ECGS bushing For the drivers side of the front differential. It replaces the Factory needle bearing. This is not an uncommon issue. You will hear the growling noise in 2wd but it will go away if you put it in 4wd.

Has anyone installed the ECGS bushing in their Tundra? Any tips/advice? Did it solve the problem? Thanks

I think it was maybe around $500. It was in DC where labor is higher, but it was also a few years ago so labor prices might have gone up everywhere since then.

Well that's a bit of a difference from what I read upon further research on another site of $2,000.

Here's to hoping yours is closer to the mark as I've already spent $670 to have wheel bearing and tie rod replaced thinking that was it.

I can see $2000 if they replaced the entire front diff, but $2k labor to replace just the bushing would be way too high. That can’t be that high because it includes parts cause the bushing is only about $60. Don’t go Toyota. Find a good shop that will do it for you

ECGS bushing fo sure. Should only take a shop a couple hours. Search this forum for lots of info on this.
