09 Tundra clear coat and paint fading on the hood, no other areas on the truck, even the roof, do not have this issue. Would seem the roof would as vulnerable to the sun and elements has the hood, but no fading on the roof.
Have received estimates from local shops, estimates range from $650-$700 which involves stripping old paint, repair any dings/chips, prime, paint and clear coat. If not addressed will get worse.
Is it worth the expense if I decide on trading in or selling in the next year or two for another Tundra?

Where are you located? my hood, roof and upper side sills are all peeling and even some rusting. I got quoted $250 for the hood and $500 for the roof and side sills. I'm located in Orange County, CA.

I'm the opposite. My roof is dull looking, but hasn't started peeling yet. I am keeping it waxed to try and keep it alive.

In my opinion, I try to keep my Truck looking as nice as possible, and for that quoted price, I'd do it. Roof, maybe not so much as not many people can see the roof.

I would try getting another quote, with California's much higher cost of living I can't imagine the labor and materials cost being that Much higher than the quote I got

Why not DIY, you can do color match base paint and 2k clear from an automotive paint supply. It's a cheaper and effective way of doing it if you have the patience and are a DIY type of person.

I doubt you'll spend more than $100 bucks for the hood.

for example, here's a spray job i did on a door handle.

Hard to say if worth it. I would lean yes, if not trade in value will be hurt as well as sellabilty in the private sector.
You could equate the cost to 1 month payment on new, just keep 1 more month.....

if there's rust you want to take care of it before wrapping. if clear coat is chipped you would need to sand it down. if only faded you could prob apply wrap but then you get into the troubles of color matching if you have non standard colors

can you give a little more detail like how to go about getting automotive paint, avg prices, any prep work, equipment to spay the stuff, clear coat, sanding etc? I would consider doing small stuff on my own like handles and mirrors but big stuff I'd rather let shop do it. I would hate to see blemish on such a large surface area.
side note: anyone know best/cheapest way to get new trims around windows?
