Drove my Tundra to work and it ran great. Went out at lunch to start it and idle drops really low then surges over 2000 rpm. When you try to drive it there is a really bad hesitation then it takes off, hesitates again and eventually stalls. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried removing the negative cable for a few minutes and reattaching it to the battery and restarting?

Sure did. Disconnected battery for about 10 minutes. No change. If you put it in drive and hit gas it hesitates tries to stall then takes off, hesitates real bad again the eventually dies. But will start right back up. If I leave it idling in park, idle will drop and almost stall, then it surges over 2000rpm. Then it will eventually stall. No codes to scan.

I would look at the crankshaft, camshaft sensors. The only hard one will be the crankshaft sensor under the truck by the bell housing. I would check them for damage or buildup of oil or sludge. Sounds like it's missing the timing marks and tries to make up for, before losing it all together and dying.

Just had it towed from work parking lot to my shop. So I am back to looking at it. Put a scanner on it, even though there is no check engine light. Showing codes po300,po301,po302,po302,po303,po304,po305,306, and 308 which are all misfire codes. Also got gas 5 miles from when I parked it, but it ran fine for those 5 miles.

Starting to sound like water in the fuel... You got a full house misfires with the exception of cylinder 7. That may be enough to stop you in your tracks. I'm no mechanic, but if it was water in the fuel, you may need to check your connecting rods for damage, among other parts, draining the tank and cleaning out injectors and fuel lines...

Any chance someone dumped something foul in your gas tank?? If so, you may want to drain that tank completely out before running any of that fuel or whatever else it might be through the system and into the engine...

So, who did you piss off at work?

or maybe an angry ex perhaps?

In reality, My bet would be water in the gas.

It’s been a while. Just thought I would update in case anyone having similar issues. Drained gas tank and put in fresh fuel with Heet additive. Didn’t help. Changed crankshaft sensor and truck now runs perfect. Thanks for help.
