Came back from a week being away from my tundra, and it had a dead battery. Stone dead to where not even the power locks worked. Hooked it up to the charger and got it started to find that the 4 high and 4 low lights were blinking, the brake light, and the ABS light on solid, and I have no speedometer. About 180,000 miles. In the last two or three months I’ve had some random dead battery issues, but never anything else. I’ve unhooked the battery for a couple hours and cleaned the terminals, reassembled, but the problem still remains. No check engine light and the truck seems to operate fine. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Curious to see if anything was found on this. I bought an 07 CM LTD, had to replace the battery and boom here I am with the same symptoms.

It was a long process of testing all the components that could cause it. Wheel speed sensors, alternator, battery, transmission speed sensors, abs module, the combo meter, etc. I have a Foxwell Elite obd2 reader with the Toyota interface software that allows me to read live data from modules like the transmission, srs, abs, etc. When trying to access the abs module to see if I could sort out any wheel speed sensor issues it gave me a communication error so I couldn’t read anything in that system. That was my biggest clue that the ABS module was toast because I could easily access the ABS module on my forerunner. I still went through many of the other components anyways, because I was in denial and didn’t wanna go through the hassle of changing out the module. I caved and tried a module from a salvage yard. I swapped the module only keeping intact my original valve unit. It actually ended up being a fairly easy job if you unbolt that whole module and Val assembly off of the body and lean it towards the engine enough to get to the bolts that hold the module to the valve body. Didn’t even require a massive brake system bleed. It does require you to run a zero point calibration which you can do off of a reader like that or there’s a way to do it manually using the truck. Just Google zero point calibration for a tundra. There might’ve been another reset that I did that involved the reader, but I can’t really remember, sorry. All I know is, I didn’t have to use a dealer at all, which is a major victory. Long story short, the ABS module can definitely ruin a battery if it’s not working correctly and the same thing can happen in the other direction it seems.
