Hey my names tanner, having a troubling issue with my tundra. Started out the other day, left rear rotor was hot and had brake fluid leaking from caliper. I put a new caliper rotor and pads in. All brake hoses to the rear are new, and for some reason I still have hot brakes. After installing the new caliper I took an 80 mile trip. Both my rear rotors were sizzling hot. I have noticed gear oil dripping from the left rear axle seal, so I replaced that. Having a hard time understanding why both rotors are so hot. The e brake pads on the drivers side showed no sign of sticking while the passenger side most certainly was sticking. I’m told I could have both rear wheel bearings bad and causing the heat but a Toyota dealership told me it’s very unlikely. And tips would be appreciated. Thanks

I’m taking all the parking brake hardware out of both sides since they don’t work anyway and lubing both caliper slides. I’ll update this afternoon once I’ve taken it for a ride

You replaced all 4 rear brake hoses?

Have you greased the caliper pins?

There's a brake bias actuator connected to the axle as I recall, so that you'll get increased rear braking as the rear is loaded up. If that actuator is stuck or for some reason in the compressed position you'll get excessive rear braking.

EDIT: Maybe I'm a moron and this is only on the 1st gens...

Yes the 2 brake hoses going to the rearend and the ones on each caliper. Yes they’re new calipers and I greased the pins. Took it for a ride and rotors were hot again. Most likely because I was heavy breaking because I just threw new pads in. I’ll update again after I take it for a few rides.

Can one just pull all the parking brake hardware out from inside the rotors?

Yeah and 2ndly why the hell would you want to do that?

Will you not ever park on a hill? You'll suddenly miss those parking brakes.

It's not good to put the weight of you big truck on a tranny pin. It will brake if you keep on doing that.

And then you'll complain that Toyota's don't make strong transmission. C'mon man.
