    I have a 2007 Tundra 5.7 4x4 with newer body style that has a bad transmission. Can I put in a 2008 4x4 5.7 transmission?

I'm not saying they aren't right but what makes them sure that it's a bad transmission? Did they give you details? There's several issues that could cause that. A bad solenoid in the valve body. The heat exchanged could have gone bad mixing radiator coolant with trans oil. Low fluid level. If you're sure that the shop did an adequate job diagnosing the problem then replace the transmission. Unless you are planning on doing the work I would expect replacing a transmission to cost $4k or so.

Were you able to swap the 08 transmission into your 07 successfully?
