First time my check engine light has come on in about 5 years. Was headed out of town on vacation so I decided to use a bottle of Lucas fuel cleaner and filled up with gas. Ran through entire 1st tank. 2nd tank check engine light came on. Pulled in and got a code reading of PO456.
Print out says fuel cap leaking. I have never noticed my fuel cap having strong vacuum like my Honda’s. Honda’s will throw code if fuel cap isn’t clicked. Any suggestions? Dealerships love this code. Lot of expensive parts on fuel evap system. Thx

Cheapest thing you can do is replace the cap. Amazon has them.

Only use OEM gas caps. Most of the aftermarket ones are junk, especially from Amazon.

The next town over there is a Toyota dealership and they have an OEM gas cap in stock. I went online to pay for it and I had $8.00 in bonus points from previous oil changes. The cap was just over $20.00 less than some of the knockoffs online. Going tomorrow and pick up.

For those that might be interested. Installed new OEM gas cap. Guy at parts counter told me to go online and order and pay for it online for additional discount (“don’t tell the boss”). With tax less than $18.00. By second tank the check engine light is now off. Good fix. Appreciate the input.
