I just obtained a 2006 Tundra SR5 with the V8 engine. I note some fluctuation in the oil pressure reading. When starting the vehicle the oil pressure gauge goes up to 1/2 (mid-scale). After warming up a couple minutes it starts to fluctuate usually showing lower but going up above mid-scale if accelerating the engine. After driving for maybe 10 minutes or so the gauge usually settles on the 1/4 scale mark and stays there regardless of engine speed.
The engine has 5W-30 oil changed about 2000 miles ago and the dipstick shows about 1/5 - 1/4 qt low. The vehicle has 60,000 miles on it and there are no abnormal noises in the engine when starting, idling, or accelerating. I am hoping it is a sensor problem but the actual oil pressure will be checked Wednesday. What oil pressure level is considered normal especially after the engine is warmed up and one is driving down the road at 55 - 65 mph? Other than a faulty sensor or oil pump what might cause the symptoms I describe?

Dealer checked the oil pressure and said it was good. Installed a new sensor/sender and that seems to have corrected the erratic and low gauge reading. Will hope it holds.

yep bank account is running low from it..
Its normal.. the 2uz-fe engine does that with oil pressure. Nothing to worry about and yes the dealer is correct..

Have the issue with mine where it’s always at the 1/4 mark. I wondered about it

It should fluctuate with rpms... if not you could have a bad sensor which is possible.. i will assume the oil has been changed at the correct intervals..
