    Hello,

I’m new to the forum, but read through a bit when diagnosing what’s happening with my 2006 Tundra four wheel drive. Long story short the transfer case actuator got stuck between 4 and 2. I was able to fix it and put a new motor assembly on. All is great but it does not go into 4 low and it may have not even gone into 4 low before it got stuck for all I know because I had not engaged 4 low between the few months ago that I bought it and the transfer actuator got stuck. Light blinks and I can hear the transfer case actuator pull it from 4 high to low but don’t hear anything from front dif actuator. I also don’t hear anything from front dif actuator when it goes into 4 high either but can tell it is in 4 high. Does the front differential actuator only engage for 4 low normally? I was under the impression the fork has to slide it for 4 high as well? Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Yes, the front diff actuator fork will operate when going into 4-HI. If you're not hearing it go, ya, might have an issue. But, I would recommend getting the front wheels off the ground and testing it out to verify.

At first I thought it wasn’t moving but Actually the front does move when going to 4 high. And it does sound like the transfer makes the move to 4 low but doesn’t engage. It must be stopping short and not going all the way to low or something. Maybe something is jammed up in the case slowing it down. I guess I’ll have to take the actuator off again and pull the rod all the way out to see it it feels stuck when going high to low. Just happy to have high again at least.
