Hello All. It has been a few years since i last posted, my truck has been doing pretty good. Until last night.

My son drove my truck last night to his GFs house. He went to start it, and nothing. Dead battery? He calls the youngest son, and they try to jump start it. All it will do is turn over, and will not start. The text I got from oldest is that they tried for an hour and it just will not start.

First thoughts are the battery. The terminals are clean, I had to fix youngest sons truck in the parking lot of Home Depot last week. We had to jump his, so I know the terminals are clean. I think the battery is about 5 years old. The truck has 175k miles btw.

Any other ideas as to what it could be?

    Thanks in advance.

5 years is a good run for a battery. You can always take it out and have it tested at Advance or Autozone.

I think that will be one of my steps today. Along with checking the fuses. I am hoping it is not the starter.

Ya - check your fuel injection fuse, if it cranks, it's not the battery.'

They seem to happen randomly - I had it happen in my old toyota truck many years ago. Really doesn't seem related to any driving or type but it's rare so it's often overlooked.

    Thanks Richid.

I just look a look at the truck. It would turn over, but, it was very weak. The starter would stay engaged for 2-3 seconds after i turned the ignition to off. The battery is at Auto Zone now for a quick charge. My son told me that he left the lights on. So, I am thinking it is possible that the battery does not have enough juice to start the engine. And it may not have enough juice to bring the starter gear back in right away.
