My son was on his way to school yesterday and was hit by a driver who ran a stop sign. The sequoia was hit in the right front tire/bumper area, and we have a welded MOVE bumper on the vehicle. The vehicle was not driveable after the accident, the right wheel had been pushed back into the running board a bit and was rubbing. I took the wheel off at home and the crossmember where the lower control arm mounts to has had the tabs bent back. The entire knuckle assembly looks fine, but we would probably replace that anyway, but the crossmember is welded in place so i cant just bolt in another. I think its just the mounts where the LCA bolts into, so that should be able to be pulled out I think/hope. He's going to need a new fender as well at a minimum also. I hope they don't total it, but probably will. I bought it salvage and rebuilt the front end (radiator up) once, so I can do it again with the suspension, but it was such a beautiful machine before it got hit. It also jacked up the cam bolts and they are out of whack.

My question is, has anyone ever had this crossmember replaced before? It's welded in, so I am not sure if just pulling the tabs back is enough or I should remove the entire front suspension, cut it out, and reweld one in. Thoughts? The vehicle has a 3 inch lift and 170k on it and was a good looking rig. I don't think we could replace it for what insurance would give us.
