    The details as follows:

2004 Toyota RAV4 – crank no start issue:

    VIN – ACA210285091

    Engine no: 1AZ4797584

hi, I have a 2004 Toyota RAV4 and it would not start on its original ECU, note when the ignition is turned on the battery charging light indictor does not come on and also the engine check light is not coming on.

i replaced the ECU with another one that came in from New Zealand and after fixing the broken wires on the deceleration Sensor the car started once and died after 30 seconds. after that even the replaced ECU stopped showing the Engine check light and the battery charging light when the ignition is turned on and it would not start. when i scanned the car with a LAUNCH scanner, the ECU is NOT accessible. It only shows the ABS and SRS scan results. What could be the problem. Does the 2004 RAV4 have CAN system on the car? note the only wires on the OBD2 connector are on Pins 4,7,9,12,13, 15 and 16.

I tried starting the car again today with the ECU from new Zealand and it started but died after 10 seconds and I once again lost the Engine Check light and the battery charge warning light and the rev counter would not move during cranking.

Can you please assist me in finding the fault so I can get this car running again.

    Many many thanks in advance.

    Rgds,

    Arvind
