    Hey guys,

So, I have a 2001 tundra limited and was getting new rims and tires put on today and ran into some problems. So the rims were just newer tacoma rims and they worked good. The problem is my tires. I’m putting Falken wild peak 275/70r17 on it, and I am currently running 265/70r16 on it. I just assumed the tires would fit because I’m stupid I guess. Anyway they hit the front ball joint’s. Mechanic thinks spacers would maybe fix the problem but that I might have to get a leveling kit. I’m fine with small spacers but I don’t want a leveling kit. Has someone put this size tire on this truck? What did you do to make it fit? Thanks

275/70 17's fit on my '06 on stock rims without this issue; perhaps it's the offset of the rims (which spacers should fix). The only rub I had was a little on the splash guards, but again I have an '06; not sure about the '01's.

Spidertrax 1.25 inch spacers should set you up pretty good. Don't go cheap on spacers and make sure to follow install directions to a T so you don't end up hating spacers because the studs break.

Does anyone know of 0.75 inch spacer thats good? I’m not against spidertrax but I only need about 1/2 inch to clear the ball joints so I want the smallest spacer possible as long as it’s a good quality one.

@Elias Jacobusse didn't bother to mention whether he has a Regular Cab, Access Cab, Double Cab truck though. Potentially critical detail, since DC have so many differences with chassis, wiring, etc, potentially different springs, so much is different. I'm wondering if the experience may vary for him if he has an RC/AC truck.

The 2001 Tundra Limited only comes in an access cab I believe. Which is what I have.

Yes, the Double Cab came about in 2004 and Limited was available in AC only in 2001.

So, is there 0.75 inch spacer that someone has used, or knows good things about?

It won't work. The new spacer needs to be long enough (or close to it) to cover the existing lug studs or at least will not work without cutting down the studs.

DO NOT use a spacer that is just a plate with holes drilled in it, they're bad news.

Actually plate with holes is fine. BUT it needs to be hub centric AND you need to run extended studs or longer reach lug nuts (for proper thread engagement).

These aren’t the best pictures sorry. Basically the new tire is wider and taller and would hit the ball joint shown in the pictures below. So the hope is that a small spacer would fix the problem.

If you get the style pictured below you can get them in a smaller size but you'll have to replace all your lug studs with extended ones in order to run them.
Not sure how hard it would be to find these that are designed for hubcentric either.

If you get the spidertrax ones you can just bolt them right up but your wheels will of course stick out further.

You may be able to get the spidertrax style from Bora in a 1 inch but I'm not sure your lugs would clear the surface.
