    Hey Everyone,

My uncle and I are trying to troubleshoot an electrical issue that we're having with my 2001 1st gen Sequoia Limited 4x4. I'm in South Texas and my Sequoia has had a 5 amp Parasitic draw. Alternator has been changed with a stock Denzo, and we still have the original starter but no changes to the draw after testing it.

    - Replaced the battery with an AGM battery on 11/7/23

These are things that have been attempted to locate the source of the 5 amp draw. These are the unsuccessful attempts that have been attempted with no success in finding the draw this week:

    - Pulled every fuse and relay in the fuse boxes, except for the bolted 120, 80 high amp fuse.
    - Unplugged/ isolated the alternator and starter.
    - Unplugged both passenger and driver door switches.
    - Unplugged the overhead driver/passenger light, mpg computer, rear view mirror console
    - Unplugged the rear door ECU and harness
    - Unplugged the engine to interior harness
    - Unplugged the ABS motor.
    - Disconnected the VSC / AVS harness
    - Unplugged the 5 fuses for the trailer harness/ module.
    - Unplugged the Ignition Switch
    - Unplugged the fuse for the motorized power folding mirrors

Another route we're thinking of heading is disconnecting the Engine ECU next. Other than that we're fresh out of ideas and would appreciate any feedback for this issue. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! You had all of those fuses out and still saw the 5A draw? That's a clue right there. Just to clarify, you had all of them out at the same time?

    Hey hey,

We took them out individually, tested them to see if there were any changes to the draw, it still showed that 5A draw reading, then put them back after we got the reading with no changes to the draw. When we placed them back in there was still that 5A draw.

I would take them all out and check for the draw. Based on your testing so far, I suspect it will still be there. But that will greatly decrease the potential sources.

I'd recommend putting a thread in the regular 1st gen Tundra thread and maybe you'll get some more hits on this

Yes - that would bring in a lot more knowledgeable folks. I should have mentioned that before.

5 amp is pretty significant. Something should be lit up, or humming with that much current leaking out. The way to test for these parasitic draws is with a multimeter at the battery. I assume that’s what you’re currently doing. Start big with the large battery cables from the battery, then the large fuse box under the hood. Unhook the whole thing and check. The draw has to disappear with the larger cables unplugged. When it shows back up, start trouble checking the smaller cables and fuses associated with that larger cable.

Thank you for the response. Yeap this electronic gremlin is a hungry one. We did everything that you stated and even changed the battery terminal connectors since I last posted. I did repost this in the 1st gen thread today as recommended by others along with updates on where our thought process is at this point.
