So the other day my truck overheated and when I pulled over I noticed that the applicator leading to the hose for the reservoir was melted completely through! I tried to baby my truck and make it home unsuccessfully. Now, when I turn the key, the truck cranks and shakes but wont turn over and on the off chance that it does turn over, she dies as soon as I put her in gear or there is no power when I depress the gas. I believe there is a problem with the fuel/air mix but as I am no mechanic, that is only a slightly educated guess!

If anyone has any insight on where to look to solve my conundrum. Id be greatly appreciated. Ive fallen in love with this truck since buying in April and would like to keep her for years to come.

    Thanks for reading,
    Woolybully from Texas

Overheating an engine is never good. Might be your gaskets are blown and engine needs rebuilding. Hoping for the best for you.

I’m having a hard time picturing what you mean here. Can you post a pic?

I assumed it to be the nipple from the radiator to overflow rez bottle.

I'd take a look in your overflow bottle and radiator for black specks.

That's what I assumed for "applicator". For additional context on the OP's problem, melting temperature of glass-filled nylon radiator tanks (filler necks and connections) is 425+ degrees F. As you said, not looking good, bwdik.
