IN SOVIET RUSSIA, TURBO BOOSTS YOU.

Seriously though, I'm guessing this is T4 kit Summit and others sell?

How much are you boosting, just curious, and what's your BOV set at? Did you beef up the motor at all? I've read in more than one place anything over 8psi on these 2UZ is asking for failure.

Yea, t4 is too beaucoup for extra power at a useful rpm. I couldnt get the turbo size calculator to work, or id have been a little more specific in my suggestions, but i’d like something that can hit max boost at 2500 and carry it to 4k. Peak tq on the non vvti engines is 3400rpm, and the last guy that came in talking about the turbo kit said it didnt really wake up until 4krpm.

It has been well documented that adding a turbo will cause your mirrors to fail, your tow hooks to fall off, your trans cooler to hide, and your friends will call your truck a "turd gen".

Wait you’re draining the oil into the valve cover? Is the turbo even high enough to properly drain like that? Unless it’s sticking out of the hood I don’t see a way to have a proper gravity feed from the bottom of the turbo into the valve cover, unless you’re draining it sideways. What are you using to add fuel? How much boost are you pushing? I really want this post to be real but the lack of any info makes it hard to believe

Yeah before I took care of the massive exhaust leaks I was having and rerouting the intercooler piping it didn’t wake up until the top of the power band, but now it spools at about 3k. Smaller is definitely the route.

It still drives great. I’ve still been figuring out the tuning, it’s got a few spots where it goes a bit lean or rich here and there, but no motor issues. I did break the front driveshaft when doing a 4wd pull, but after seeing how small it is I’m not really surprised. Also my torque converter isn’t happy after downshifting on a long 9% grade at 100mph. Thing slipped and I lost power :(. Might have to look into a th400 swap if I don’t put a manual in it

Yessir, stock trans, i’d be apt to roll into the power gently. But surprised it spun the splines off the shaft instead of grenading the front diff.
I’ll eventually crawl under snowbobs truck and see if the 8” front diff could be swapped easierlyish.
