Has anyone found a Tail gate assist for lowering the tailgate without getting the "BANG"?

I use my arms to help cushion its drop. Also to raise it back to closed.

I just lower it slowly, no bang.

I believe there is a poster under a handle like professional hand model but apparently I don't know the right spelling. Whoever it was modified one to fit our trucks

Who, Handy? I don’t believe you can search on a banned member IIRC, but I think you mean the mini torsion bar method. I’m not sure how to find that link other than searching “tailgate” or something better in this forum and going through the results.

I tried that torsion bar. No this was somebody, I'm almost positive that ot was PHM that modified one of the assist type shocks. I remember seeing pictures of it

    did he get banned?

if it is him, it would be in this thread:

He got banned yep. I think it was he who found if you shift where you drill the hole versus what the manuf’er template suggests, it operates much better.

Yeah, I guess someone else posted the torsion bar method. Handy found an actual gas shock/door position to do the job.

Yeah, I read both of those threads. I tried the torsion bar. Ended up removing it before I got my tailgate, hood, and roof repainted.

It was a huge help, but I didn't like the way you had to install it. I felt like it would end up causing metal fatigue and start tearing the tailgate
