I've been searching Toyota sites for new CV axles. In my search, I usually find the axle listed on permanent backorder or unavailable. Also, I have not seen any factory-rebuilt units.

I know people have reasonably good service with some aftermarket brands.

Are there any aftermarket brands with the same dimensions as an OEM?

I like to use OEM or specialty boot kits that seem to last the longest.

I've heard there is a NAPA version that is supposed to be remanufactured OEM.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Have you considered re-booting the ones you have?

Yes. I need to get an extra one to use as a spare. I have two OEMs on it currently. If I break one, I will swap in the spare and leave it running for years while I repair the broken one.

Check out these guys, they claim they are Toyota axles. https://www.cvjreman.com

I cannot confirm. They are highly recommended by some GX guys. They have the high angle boot option available as well.

A local Toyota dealer near me is selling what they claim is Toyota remanned by a third party and being distributed by Southeast Regional Toyota. I checked them out at the dealer and the axle nut on them is not 35 mm which leads me to think they are not Toyota.

Can anyone confirm that the axle nut size is clear proof that it is not Toyota? Every one I’ve ever seen and any online video, it’s always 35 mm.

I bought a used OEM axle off a wrecker on ebay for less than $100 with free shipping. Rebooted that and swapped it in. Now have another OEM spare on the shelf ready to go.

A few years ago, I was in a car group that traced brands sold in the US back to one or two manufacturers in China.

Many CV axles sold in US parts stores are from Wonh Parts in Ningbo China.

Last year, I bought a CV axle to take apart to make a trophy from eBay.

It was advertised as a new CV axle. It was not new. It had been rebooted and painted.

Once I got it and started taking it apart, it turned out to be a used OEM axle.

While they were lying about the axle being new. They missed an opportunity to sell an actual OEM axle.

    This looks like the box.

I made a trophy out of it.

Thank you for the link. I purchased it. I will put new OEM boots on it and keep it as a spare that I might swap in if I break one. Thanks again for your help!

Cool. I hope it's a good one. I haven't purchased from them but the axle looks in good condition. After rebooting mine, I would suggest getting the right clamp tool if you don't already have it.
    I bought this one

I also bought this one for the earless clamp but I haven't tried it yet.

I bought this one and it appears to be an OEM. Unfortunately the outer half shaft splines are severely rusted and the seal is starting to break up.

I will reboot it with some OEM boots. I'm not certain that I can restore the outer half shaft.

I do have this tool that I bought for rebooting the LC.

I may try to find a low cost CV that I can get to use the outer half shaft with an OEM boot.

Is there a particular boot kit with more bellows for the inner boot? I see people with 100 series using an inner from a different Toyota that has more bellows for the inner boot. I'll need to go research that.

That's a bummer. Can you return it? If it's not as good as what they showed in the description I would try it.
People use the Porsche boot for the inner which is a harder plastic similar to the outer Toyota boot and is supposed to last longer. I haven't tried it yet, but probably will the next time I reboot a CV.

Yes. That's the boot I've been looking for find. I did spot this boot kit from Exit Offroad.

Just be aware, there've been more reports than I can recount for you about non-OEM rubber CV boots cracking within 2-3 years and needing to replace. OEM boot kits are still available, but the Poarsche boot kit Kartek sells specifically (can't tell if it's the same), has gotten solid reviews on here.

That looks like a decent kit, except that I've heard that neoprene doesn't hold up long-term. The description reads, "Includes inner and outer OEM-Style CV boots" which is not the same as OEM. I think I bought my boot kit for $55 from Toyota. Granted that doesn't include the crimp tool and the porsche boot. And as I said above, I would get the OEM style crimp tool. It worked so much better than the one that's pictured in the kit.
It would be close in price I think if you pieced the parts together yourself but you would know you got the right quality parts.

I think some use Porsche 930 boots with success.

Yes, I believe the porsche boots are something other than neoprene. I think they're a harder material similar to the outside boots on our CV axles and they are supposed to last longer.
