With the apparently never-ending back-order on the Bilstein 6112s I'm exploring other options.
I have a set on order right now but the availability date keeps slipping to the right.

I'm looking to go 2" in the front, keep the rear stock height.

Coilovers like Icons/Fox/Toytec would be great, but most folks are getting 3"+ lift with these. Is there anything out there comparable to the 6112 in terms of lift, ride comfort and durability?
If not, I guess I'll just wait for the Bilsteins (I just hate waiting!).

Is there a wait for 5100s too? I believe top setting on those is 1.9". I have them on my gen 2 on the middle setting and am pleased with the look and feel.

Not sure if the 5100s are also on back-order but I haven't really checked. Wanted the 6112s since they come with a spring and I can get them preassembled, and the 6112s are just all-around beefier. I don't go crazy in the truck but it will see more and more off-road use in the coming months and I'd rather have something a little more geared towards that. Plus, I've heard the ride on the 6112s is a little stiffer, firmer, which I prefer.

I'm in the same dilemma. I have 6112s on order, but are tied up in backorder. :(
The setup I'm going with is 6112/5160 275/70r18, Method NV on 2017 Platinum.
I'd go with other coil over options for the front, but don't want to downgrade to 5100.

I’m taking a hard look at the newish Eibach 2.0 Coilovers. Not much out there on the Tundra but a lot of Tacoma guys are running them with good results. I’ve been checking out the thread on TacomaWorld and just basic Google search stuff and they seem pretty legit.
We all know their springs are good since lots of other brands use them in their kits. There was that whole Toytec/Icon spring debacle a while back but this is a brand new offering so surely they’ve figured out the Tundra specs for these. I’m gonna try to call them today to see if I can talk to someone about the Tundra specifically.

I’ve had good results with their stuff in other applications in the past so I may take a chance on these and see how they do. Roughly $1k for front coillovers and the corresponding rear shocks. Not bad for fully adjustable fronts.

Interesting. These look pretty new to the Eibach line up. I'll do some research and share.

Cool, I'd love to hear other's opinions/thoughts on the Eibachs. If I find out anything directly from the source I'll post it here.

I was thinking about the Eibach's as well. I'm interested to see what info is out there.

Of course, you could go one of the more expensive routes and install the TRD Pro Fox's up front. I've been trolling a lot trying to see what everyone else has too. The TRD Pros are pricey for sure, but I have yet to read a post where anyone disliked this factory lift and ride. Maybe I'll save a few bucks and install Billy's on the rear with a shackle instead as I do tow a boat. Not sure about a mixed suspension though?

Yeah, while the TRD Pro setup is the perfect height for what I want, I'm not looking to spend that much.
As far as mixing brands front to rear, I don't really see an issue with it as long as they're in the same ballpark as far as damping and valving and all the important characteristics. I would think most basic kit stuff would be pretty comparable usage-wise, so you'd probably be fine.
Either way, my OCD wouldn't allow it, even though its probably cost-efficient and logical, haha!

Good points Onespeed. I always tell my wife that I’m not a perfectionist, I just want it done right...she never buys it!
I have more searching to do, but probably need to start a new thread as I’ll be moving off topic to discuss the best “non-Pro” rear suspension to marry with the TRD Pro front suspension. Ultimately, i may just take a slow approach and upgrade the front and rear separately and as my rapidly vanishing bank account will allow

I like the TRD Pro suspension but don’t like the fact it isn’t adjustable. Knowing my OCD, I think I should stick to shocks that are height adjustable. Especially since I’m looking to put quite a bit of weight in the bed which may necessitate different leaf springs in the rear. Just want options going forward.

Good point about adjustability. I bought some Toytec coil overs for my 2007 4Runner for the same reason. They were great by the way. However, once I found my sweet spot I never adjusted again. I just have to feel good that 2” front lift from the TRD Pros is my Tundra’s sweet spot...from all the pics I’ve seen of similar setups, I think it is.

I have been researching for months now as I saved up. I too wanted just 2” in the front and nothing in the rear. I did not want to have to get UCAs yet as I am ready for an upgrade from stock and would likely have another couple of months to save for the UCAs.
I was bouncing between Fox 2.5s and Toytec Aluma Series 2.5s both with the 2.0s in the rear. Was leaning towards Fox as they do not require UCAs. I then started looking at TeraFlex Falcons. Knowing TeraFlex is nothing but quality in the Jeep world for a very long time. I started watching every video I could find about them no matter the platform.
I have been reading everything I can and there just is not much out there about the Tundras specifically but very very few complaints about them. The neighbor has a Rubicon with likely close to 30k in upgrades and he runs TeraFlex Falcons and says they are the best he has had.
I was about to pull the trigger on Fox and just wait for them since they are super backordered. Then I found these two videos that made me pull the trigger on the Falcons.
    https://youtu.be/AtCqYjx2JxM
    https://youtu.be/4QODZzltjT4

The Black Friday sale that brought the tow/haul kit down to $1275 was a big help too.
So now I just anxiously await their arrival. Also trying to find a set of take off OEM springs to use and have powder coated. That way I can just keep my factory coilover together for rebuild time.

I had not planned on lifting the rear but seeing the Coachbuilder shackles and needing a set just because of the work of art the are but supposed to do wonders for the ride in the rear. I could not pass up their Black Friday sale either. Ended up with their +1 shackle. Lifts the rear .685” so not too much and will still give me a slight rake which I like.

I checked them out also. There is an overland outfitter near me that sells almost exclusively Falcon setups (Mule Expedition Outfitters).
Like you mentioned, Teraflex seem to be really popular in the Jeep crowd, but I couldn't find much about them for full size trucks.
Maybe I'll stop by their shop tomorrow and discuss the Falcon setup for the Tundra and see what I can find out.
When you get yours installed I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.

Edit: Just watched a couple videos on the Teraflex website specific to the Tundra, one install video and one testimonial. Very interesting, and now another contender in my search.

Did they give you an indication on when the tow/haul kit would be available?

I was told last week mine were being built. But with everyone buying anything related to outdoor fun, covid, and the holidays I am sure it will be awhile longer. But I am willing to wait for what I actually want as opposed to buying what is available.

I will certainly make a thread detailing the kit, any install quirks I might come across and my initial impressions.

While not on the Tundra these are still very positive videos for their truck line.

I ran a set of the Eibach shocks which are equivalent to the 5100’s on a 4Runner and they had much better dampening for only a few bucks more. The small bump sensitivity was MUCH better on the Eibachs. When it’s time for new shocks I am going to get another set for my Tundra.

In my opinion that have jumped in with a ton of experience and it shows. Many of their Toyota truck products get excellent feedback from my research but unfortunately it’s not as mainstream or abundant as Bilstein.

    Why not 5100s?

the ride is noticeably better and more planted feeling for a simple shock swap out.

middle setting and I fit 35s with ease.

That’s all I did on my 4Runner...a shock swap. I feel that the ride quality on the Eibach is better than Bilstein at that price point. Both shocks will achieve the same goals you stated very well. But for me I will spend an extra 75 bucks for the Eibach. 5100’a are an excellent product but Eibach is a notch higher in the ride department...

I've had the Eibach Pro Truck on for about six months now. I assembled them myself and set them at the second notch, which gave me about 2.5"-2.75" of lift. First notch is supposed be about 2".

I have had absolutely no complaints thus far. I like the ride and I beat it around pretty good on two tracks and shitty mountain roads.

FWIW both Toytec and Wheeler's recommended Eibach over the Bilstein 5100.
