    Does this exist, or not worth attempting?

    A Cam 'input-splitter' to use a 'Rear only Cam' of an aftermarket HU [Alp, Sony, Kw, Pionr] as a 2nd Cam.
    IE: Operator can manually Toggle to one Cam or the other, as needed.

    Still shopping for HU upgrade and some of my options only run a Sgl, Rr Cam.

    2nd option: possible to install a 2nd Cam, via HU HDMI input?

    Please clarify what you are trying to do. Your question is a little confusing.

    Buy the head unit that will accommodate a front & rear cam. When you use the maestro module to install the head unit you can program the maestro to toggle a switch on the steering wheel to switch to different cameras.

    @Tundra234 ...

    Can a Single Cam HU utilize a 'Splitter' for camera input [?
    said 'Splitter' would allow for connection of 2nd Cam on a Sgl Cam HU; is such [hack] even possible... is what Im asking.

    @lerbud1 ...
    Dont have SWC.
    Agreed on a HU w/2 Cam inputs, but have a brand/model that checks all boxes, Except its only a Sgl Cam...altho does have HDMI input.
    Would HDMI input allow a 2nd Cam input ?

    Not sure about the hdmi. Something like this would work:

    thx @lerbud1 ...I think that might be otherwise known as a 'Video Switcher' ?
    Also, presuming the device works, if I wanted a Frt view Cam, I would need to disrupt the reverse trigger circuit somehow in order to see the image while in drive, or anytime I wanted.
    I think most mobile cams dont have direct HDMI output; might need a type of 'gender-bender' terminal to carry signal, IDK yet.

    So, all of my above query was based on 2 BIG 'boxes checked' by the contemplated replacement HU: Sony xav-AX8100 [9" display].

    1. 9" display: being larger than 7's and also closer to reach & operate while driving
    2. No SWC in my sr5, so this is the only HU i know of whose IR Remote operates, not only VOL, Mute, but also Display OFF, Source, Mode, BT, USB file selection and EQ selection.

    Addl 2 Boxes checked:
    3. 20 watt RMS [CTA2006]: might not need an ExtAmp [not into loud, just clean SQ] ?
    4. HDMI input [2nd cam possible] ?

    BUT [and this is a rather big one],....a big minus:
    Resistive display. Most common complaint of this model = 'Not bright enough in daylight ops'.

    IDK; Im likely back to the drawing board...
