So I am on the fence on which rear shocks to pick.
Driving is 70% highway, 20% back-roads, 10% city. No trails. Will be adding a CB+1 Shackles.

Narrowed it down to 2 options. Any recommendations between the 2?
    1. Bilstein 25-311365 Rear B8 5160 ($540/pair)
    2. Icon 2.5 VS IR ($670/ pair)

Don't forget to extend your bump stop height to match to your shackles. Otherwise you will soon have flattened leaf springs if you carry weight in the truck.

Most folks here will steer you away from Icon. If you aren't offroading, you really don't need the reservoir. I would think the 5100's would work and save you a bit.
What do you have in the front? You need to make sure they will work together.

    Thanks for the advice!
I know negative flex on leaf springs will flatten them out faster.
Since the CB +1 shackle is only 0.625 lift, is that enough to cause issues?
In your opinion, Still worth adding 0.5-0.625in shim?

Is there any specific reason against Icon's for the Tundra platform? Or has there been support issues in the community?
I ask because, i have been happy with my icon 2.0's on my Tacoma.
As far as reservoirs. 100% agree not really needed but look cool.

The reason i haven't considered the 5100 is because I have the Bilstein sport factory shocks and if replacing, thought it would be the time to upgrade.
I know OEM valving on "sport" factory shocks will be different than aftermarket, but wasn't sure if a bigger improvement would be seen with the options i listed.

As far as front goes it is still stock. Plan is for Bilstein 6112's

Not looking to really lift the truck much, just trying to soften the ride a little.
Will be switching from 20's to 18's to help that as well.

There have been a lot of folks with quality issues from Icon. Tons of posts and threads about it on the forum. Glad your Tacoma stuff has been good.

I've talked with folks who have had the 5100 and the 5160s for the rear and most say they can't tell a difference unless they are really out off roading and put the shock thru its paces. For your uses, I think you would be fine with the 5100 rear and 6112 in the front.

I too have the TRD sport shocks and while I like them, my wife wants something that provides a smoother ride. I wish you luck in your search :fingerscrossed:

The stock system is all matched to function as a whole. Once you modify the shackle length, you are changing the system. The longer shackle will simply force the springs to flex beyond their design limits and eventually flatten. I used yellow Sumo springs for my mod because they are soft vs solid which means my truck frame/springs/axle never undergo harsh sudden impact. That said, yes you could use some sort of shim to compensate, I'd think a half inch would work. You also want longer and new u bolts too. Even if the stock bolts are long enough, it's never a good idea to reuse axle u bolts.
Now if you want better advice, skip the shackles, u bolts and bump stops. Buy yourself and your truck a Roadmaster Active Suspension system. It will improve your ride, improve handling, add lift, and reduce sag when loaded. Much better investment, easy to install, and easy to remove and resale if for any reason you don't keep the truck. Good luck!

What are your end goals? Eibach tend to have a good reputation and @memario1214 tends to have stock of them and can get them to you quickly.
