Does anyone know if its possible to swap the seats in the 2nd gen crewmax with the flip up seats in a 2.5 gen? The 2.5gen seats flipping up make for a much better storage system and more room for a dog. Since they are built on the same base I would think all the mounting points may already be there.

The rear seats: look at the feet of the seats. You would need to fab up risers to get them to the proper height of the 2.5 gen IIRC

I think the base is different. The 2.5 has the raised area like where you can put the esp storage and I think the regular 2 Gen is pretty flat from the floorboard back.

Sorry should have clarified, I am only talking about the rear seats. I am pretty sure the front seats would bolt right in.

    Pretty things
Didn't the cab stay the same thru the whole run?

If there is a difference, I would be willing to bet that difference is built into the 2.5 seat is self. Maybe an intermediate bracket.?

There are a few who have swapped their 2nd gen interior to that of a 2.5, so hopefully they can chime in here.

So I have been wanting to do this for some time, I have a set of 17' seats, the fronts bolted right in (wiring i cant find a pin out of the air bag harness so I skipped that) the rears have been on hold for that I have been unsure how I wanted to cross that bridge. So what I am going to do is make a simple adapter and bolt the gen 2.5 seats to my gen 2 seat sliders. So if this works out today I should have folding seats that slide.

So Here is what I came up with, I got some 1.25" x 1.5" aluminum bar at the local metal yard, and drilled it so that it fits on the gen 2 sliders, i spot drilled the bottom of the aluminum to clear the studs on the slider and used a 13/16 drill to counter bore the aluminum so that the factory nuts and studs would work. Now I need to mark the bars where i want the gen 2.5 seats to sit, drill and tap it 1/2"-13 and bolt the seats in and there it is 1.5 hours or drilling with basic tools (drill press only) and now I have sliding folding seats. The truck has 280K miles and I have used it for work for the last 4 years, not wanting to change out the seats because I have always felt as soon as I do the engine will blow up but now I want to make it functional for some desert excursions so the time is now.

What year is the truck? I can check out the wiring diagrams for you. Do you have pictures of the fronts installed? Do you find them more/less comfortable?
