Howdy...I think I want to buy a 21 Tundra and upgrade to maybe the Camburg Fox setup with 35s. If I spend all that money will it be as good as a Raptor on and off road? I'm a Toyota guy and I don't want a rattletrap.

Any advice on upgrades that will make my Tundra cooler than my brother's Raptor?

You mean those over priced f150’s with a wide body kit and coil over shocks? Ya. Buy a wide body kit and coil over shocks for your tundra. Maybe slap a supercharger on so you’ll have forced induction like the ecoturd motor.

Maybe @reywcms can tell you what you need to have a similar performing build to a raptor. I believe he enjoys whooping them in the dirt on his free time.

No, that’s a long travel set up. It’s a slippery slope, it would surpass the Raptor in almost every way when complete, but it’s a lot more money and work than just bolting on.

On “Truck Night In America” S2 E4 they put an Icon Equipped Tundra against a Raptor. The Tundra appears to have 2.5’s, Secondaries and probably an RXT Pack, I don’t have the full specs, I’m not sure what the Raptor had upgraded but they beat on them both pretty hard.

That was one of the best trucks on that show. Until he hydrolocked it. :(

Faster you want to go the more it costs is the general rule of thumb.

Go with the LSK kit, while there add the rear cantilever setup or daily driven link kit. Probably with shocks and Fiber glass about 20k without labor on suspension. Then add the blower and gears about another 10k without labor.

You can kill a Raptor with $30k budget on top of initial purchase. Especially if you can handle some of the labor yourself.

    Glad to hear it.

    So in your opinion:
    LSK Cantilever https://lsksuspension.com/product/07-21-tundra-cantilever-kit/

And what else? Don't really want to do the fiberglass thing or widen the stance. Would like it to still be good as my daily driver and fit in the car wash rails :)

Well, in any of those long travel kits you’re looking at a widened track width.

If you’re looking for an in-between you could do a nice Mid-Travel kit with Secondaries and SUA in the rear with bypasses.

There is a ton of good information all over this site. I would read some threads, check out the LT forum and really get an idea of what you want and expect out of the truck.

Depending how far you go, there will definitely be a give/take on performance and general stock-like drivability after a certain point.

Raptor lol those are cute. In all seriousness a properly setup long travel tundra will run circles around a raptor... I do it all the time. Couple questions like mentioned above. What's your budget? What's your mechanical skill level? Do you mind subtle noises etc? There's a give and take with anything. High performance suspension etc requires more than just bolting it on and go. Fine tuning and tweaking but once dialed in it's awesome. I'll be heading out this weekend to beat up on some TRX's lol.

You'll need to run the fiberglass fenders. With more travel you need more room again the give and take scenario. The fenders do look great. You may get away with not having it but then you're limiting the travel and if you're doing this you want all the travel

Sure, weld spacers in the springs and you are almost there!

You would have to spend so much to get the right springs, shocks, UCAs, etc....even then not be able to do what it does....

I mean, @reywcms truck performs pretty good for some bolted on wheel spacers and welded shock spacers.

What really sets his truck apart is the turbine system.

Wow that's a beauty. I'm not trying to run circles around a raptor. I'm looking to match it without long travel, fenders etc. Is there a bolt on option that will make the truck ride like a raptor? Or should I just buy the raptor? (just threw up in my mouth a little)

Reach out to Ian with Wheel Every Weekend. https://www.wheeleveryweekend.com/

Ian's black 2nd gen Tundra might be what you are looking for. His Tundra suspension setup is a mid-travel setup with Bilsteins that are finely tuned.
