More than the S/C whine and exhaust roar, I'm hearing the hours of detailing and cleaning lol. Good vid, trucks a beast. When are you going to open those headlights and do black with blue details, clear reflector mod? Think thats needed with your rig at the insane custom level it is.

Thank you for the compliments! I actually ordered the smoked reflector lenses for the headlights but decided to not open my OEM headlights. I was waiting to see how the new Morimoto replacement headlights performed instead of retro fitting. Plus I’m getting the itch to do a long travel tundra build.

I like this rear long travel setup but I don’t like loosing my towing and load capabilities. Im doing my research though. A4FDEB01-822B-4FAE-9D3C-4C6A87BBF3B9.jpg 261F22E2-7B43-4D78-A16E-09F024DEE39B.jpg

You are spot on Magnuson can and does make a higher volume SC like Whipple and Harrop 2600 however they were involved with Toyota in the original development so they understand the limits of the engine and drive train components including the aluminum engine block and 600HP at the crank is it. The reason why Toyota stopped the TRD SC which was built by Magnusson on the 5.7 was because people were changing the pulleys and pushing the vehicle beyond it's limits. At the end of the day my 2017 Tundra SC w/BD tune was getting 481HP at the rear wheels to the ground with stock wheels and tires I was in the low 440s with 33.5" tires to the ground. I lost about 50HP just going from stock tires to 285 70r 18 and heavier Fuel wheels. I lost a little more HP on SC Sequoia with 34" tires. The type of Dyno they used on @1UPPER's vs the roller type is that it gives you HP to the axle but not to the ground as it does not account for tire size and weight my guess with 37's were probably talking 410-420HP to the ground. it also is probably why there were initial incorrect MPG readings. I'm no expert but I have been studying this stuff for the last 7 years or so since I wanted to SC my first Tundra. Like 1UPPER said the real challenge in his tune was the long tube headers with this engine design the SC preforms better with just a less restrictive muffler or cat back system but without the LT headers.

Thanks for all your input and suggestions. Lots of good points to think about. I was surprised when they did my dyno from the axles versus the tires on rollers.

I wasn’t originally planning on doing the SC when I did my long tube headers. So if I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t have change my headers with a SC. I’ve learned a lot on what to do and what not to do though. My particular situation was a little bit unique because not to many places have tuned a FFV SC, with long tube headers and the full exhaust. At least not in my area. I did tell Pro Speed when they did my tune to not worry about getting the most HP but to make sure it was reliable for daily use. I also said I didn’t want to push my motor to hard. I’m still very happy with my setup!

That is a great approach to tell Pro Speed that the reliable HP # was the one you're after, not some peak # just to say that's how much HP you have. Your truck is a very unique combo of hardware and software, and you navigated those obstacles with quite a successful outcome. Hindsight will most often yield a recognition of other options, but I think you did extremely well with what you have from where you started. Being the first to work through something always makes it easier on the next guy to "1up" what you did, but that is what progression is all about. I'm sure you have a complete truck build in your head as to how you would do "the next one". ... which I'm looking forward to as well!

Please don't take my previous post the wrong way. You have an incredible build and the guys at Pro Speed are the best in the business I wish I lived closer to them. You have an awesome tune especially having to deal with the truck being ffv. I appreciate the info you shared at least now we know there are more options for the ffv guys. I agree with toyoholic 100%. I apologize if my post seemed bad it was not meant to be. I have the upmost respect for you and your build i think it’s incredible.

Thanks for all the kind words. I definitely have a plan in my head already for my next 2020 build. I really enjoy thinking and making new ideas to set my trucks apart from what I typically see. I’m pretty certain I’ll sell my truck this fall and do a whole new build from the ground up. So my gears are turning and planning the next build already.

I appreciate it but the install is pretty straight forward. It will install on my camper shell rails. So it’s a lot easier than my roof rack.

Unboxing my Prinsu ARE camper shell rack. I like that the bars are notched so you can fit hardware into the grooves for lights or other accessories. D4C04ACC-A348-4006-895D-CE371B583704.jpg
Kind of surprised the Prinsu rack only has 7x bars with the kit. My Coachbuilder kit came with 12x bars for the roof rack.

I think he was pointing out the "Tundras In The Snow" his Mileage is telling him about, and not the MPG. LOL But he's professionaly tuned so I wouldn't doubt that's pretty accurate.

We did a Snow Performance Methanol kit on my brothers SC 3.4L Tacoma, his 5.9L Cummins tow rig, and if I ever do even one upgrade to my Duramax, it will be a Meth kit from Snow Performance. Expensive, but well worth the performance especially when running higher boost (on our diesels we would see 31-50 psi).

I almost bought that kit, but chickened out. Look at their under bed cantilever kit. The truck in the pics belongs to one of our members on a vacation. @roypark
