Ive been saving up some money lately, trying to get some internal work done (new radiator, spark plugs, fuel filter, and fuel injectors) I bought my Tundra from my grandfather for $1500 it’s a white SR5 Access Cab with the 2uz engine in it. I was wondering if anyone knows how or where to look at trying to either how to supercharge, or even how to centrifugal charger this motor. I’m new to the Toyota community, and I’m trying to build my motor up. If anyone could, give me some info please

I havent seen a centrifugal blower on one of these yet. And i wish you luck, but these arent the best engines to put boost to. Its doable, but you’re adding alot of heat and stress to a 2 bolt light duty truck engine.
Ls swap it, then supercharge that.

Congrats and supercharger units are rare and the price has gone up since covid.
I'm doing an install on mine and have basically done everything.
If you have the opportunity it's not a bad idea but try to find a whole truck with a bad frame or something.

    Here is a useful read:

Lot of money to supercharge these engines, and as previously stated, they can't handle a ton of boost. 5-6psi would be my safety zone, and that's not gonna make that big power you want from a boosted setup, but it would still be fun. Would hate to lose a nice first Gen to an LS swap, but if your motor was already blown and you were rescuing one from the scrapper, I could appreciate that.

9psi of boost and 125 shot of nitrous can blow up any motor, especially if not properly tuned. More the nitrous than the boost. I'm guessing that was the issue on that completely grenaded 2uZ. Nitrous can be fickle, my buddy blew up his SBC with a 75 shot applied at the wrong time. Someone on here had a TRD block for sale at one point. That would be a good place to start building a high HP setup. Otherwise LS swap.

Yea, the nitrous + boost was a bad idea, but i feel the truck had to have had some tuning.
Theres a reason he’s going 4bolt and chevy rods. The 2uz isnt overbuilt enough for 400hp. It might last forever at 300? Too bad it didnt vtech itsself into a 2v until 1800rpm or so. Small bore short stroke engines want to breathe, and the 4.7 cant spin fast enough to really let the heads shine. Theres toy 5.7 4runners and tacos, its possible… but the electrics are complex, so ls wins out of cost and efficiency. But im looking hard for an alternative. 5 speed n/a 2jz would be fun. [400hp v8 or ~250hp~ diesel] and a 6/8/10 speed slushbox would be fun. I bet i could get my money out of it, if i swapped in that triad trd nascar engine thats been on ebay

point is, the 2uz wasnt built to be fun. And making it fun is going to shorten its life everytime you abuse it. Learn to enjoy having a slow underworked truck.

Someone needs to buy that block and slap a modified intake manifold and a Weiand 6-71 blower on it ASAP.

TRD superchargers are elusive and far too expensive to bother with. You can run them trouble free if you don't try to raise the boost.
