I may have jumped the gun. I was only looking on the Lowe’s website and not checking elsewhere. Not sure why only certain brands would be more than double in price.

Damn humidity of 65% is brutal here. At least I got most of the mold cleaned out of the AC.

None. I just popped the vent off and sprayed diluted bleached inside then wiped off 2 minutes later. I’ll take it out of the window and do the blower wheel and vent bottom on Labor Day when I pull it out.

I will admit you need to treat it with kid gloves; it’s way too easy to poke a hole in the styrofoam and destroy the duct unlike the 2005 one which has a plastic duct lined with styrofoam.

Currently 91 and feels like 107 per my weather app. Fawk its hot af.

Received my super fast charger from Prime day. Its a generic Chinesium but it does charge my S22 Ultra at Super Fast Charging speeds and it came with a nice thin 10ft long USB-C to USB-C charging cable. Win win.

We're at 63% here, ?fortunately? the sun isn't out so we've only got a feels like of 86.

In a related note I'm sitting here sweating on the deck studying for my EPA 608 exam that's at 830 tomorrow morning.

might be as simple as where is their assembly. Some states minimum wage is $7.50/hour, other states minimum is $15/hour.
    CT in 2017 $10.10. 2021 $13, 2022 $14, 2023 $15.
The cost of creating has gone up a lot & quickly in some places.

Yup. Doesn't seem to be, after one pass through the study guide and twice through the practice test I'm at 90+% and you only need 72% to pass.

It's all proctored online now so I bumped up the test to tomorrow from Thursday. I put in for a new position that doesn't require it but they prefer if you have it and the $175 for the testing is a drop in the bucket compared to the possible pay raise.

You’re willingly studying in this swamp-ass weather? I need an AC conditioned environment to do any sort of mental exercise.

They won’t survive with such a huge price differential. I thought federal min wage was up to $9 and change now?

It’s funny because now I rarely even deal with refrigerant at work, 95% of our units are chilled water.

60% here, and I've gotta go out and mow my yard's and offering to mow the neighbors. He had a small subdermal something-or-other removed by a hackjob and it got infected, had a bunch of tissue excised. He's god spinal fusion surgery coming up soon too. Ugh.

the video was from a different country, but there was definitely zero slowing down.
Bit of a tangent note from that; I've noticed alot more videos of people dying or getting severely mangled on the interwebs lately. In early internet days, any videos with death or brutal violence would be removed almost immediately. I'm not sure what it means, but seems significant
What kind of School of Satan is giving exams on a sunday morning? #sacreligious

Other than some draft stoop around the doors - nope, zero insulation in my walls & attic. Single pane glass too.

I've got plenty of beer to rehydrate and it's cooling off slightly with the rain that's coming.

Funny part is this job really doesn't deal with it since we've got 2 full HVAC positions. It's mostly doing PM work and general maintenance.

Not really a school. Basically just someone who watches you take the test to make sure you don't cheat.

State Minimum Wage Laws | U.S. Department of Labor (dol.gov)
Don't quote me, but between this & another DOL page, doing some quick searches, looks like GA's minimum is $5.15/hour. Federal minimum seems to be $7.25/hour unless you are a civilian worker on a federal contract, then it's $15/hour (in all states). Lot of states are at $7.25/hour. Guess they're matching Federal minnie.

82% humidity here. One of the worst days we've had so far this year. I had a fan in the garage with me while I worked. My victory beer is going down easy.

@Mr.bee and @DJenerated have been here. It's not bad bad, but it's not really nice. I'd say livable in not extreme summer and not extreme winter. Well, it's liveable in those months, but not ideal.

What's the build date on your house tho? It's gotta be ancient. If it was pre-insulation, then it's exempt.

FWIW, mine was built '69 - '72 without insulation in the walls. Just cause it existed, didn't mean it was required.

Ha! 7 months ago. Wife and kids are running off to see family in MIA for 3-4 days during my birth anniversary, as I stay at home alone. Tentative plan is to install next weekend. Hopefully can knock it all out on Saturday. We'll see. Hoping I feel better, but at minimum I'm getting the damn COs and links in.

Not when you add humidity. Humidity is a beast. 91 at 20% RH versus 91 at 80% RH is night and day. I an wear long sleeves in PHX when it's 100 out. I try that in ATL when it's 82 out, I'm sweating my ass off.
