I bet if you offered him a grand for the topper, he'd probably take it. Cheapest I've seen one go in that condition is closer to $1,400-1,600.

Ship has sailed for me, though it's fun to keep looking. I do like that type back end.

Are camper shells without a front window normal? Looks like the weather stripping protrudes out further than the shell so I'm guessing it butts up against the back of the cab. These are for double cab since the back window can lower?

In general, some caps come with a built-in or fit-in "boot" that lets you either (A) remove the cap window completely for full pass-through, (B) leave all windows intact, and open windows when you want to hand-through.

You can also buy inflatable aftermarket boots that are glorified innertubes that seal that space off. But they tend to collect a lot of shit. The OEM fit boots shed a lot of the crap you'd expect. No clue on longevity of them, though.

Thanks. I potentially might be committing a blasphemous act on a camper shell I just picked up. I have fiberglass bedsides that add about 5" of width in comparison to OEM bedsides. The camper does not mount properly, it's basically sitting 3" higher than it should be, I might trim the bottom of the camper.

Instead of trimming the camper shell, can you build a mounting rail on top of your bedsides? It will still stick up above the can though.

Ya that would be the easiest option but the open pass through portion of the camper shell won't be butted up perfectly to the back of the cab.

Or I could ditch this camper mod project, resell it, and wait for a camper that is flat on the bottom so it'll sit flush.

Be careful of the rubber boots though. Plenty of info online about how they rub off the paint and can cause rust. Look up some photos on Google.

On my old shell with a boot, I slid the shell backwards to allow myself space to work. I then applied 3M clear vinyl (like they use on the front of vehicles to prevent rock chips) all around the rear cab window on my truck. It didn't look pretty, but once the cap boot mated to the cab you could hardly tell it was there. This protected the paint on my truck. Even in the <2 months I ran the shell boot without the vinyl, it was already rubbing through my clear coat.

I would remove the black plastic bed rail cap out of the topper, because your bed rail is simply too wide for it. Once you get the black plastic cap out of the way then see how far the topper sits down. If you are feelin real frisky, cutting the bottom of the topper out and then fiberglassing it back to match the bedside would be absolutely tits.

The fiberglass leg of the camper is sitting on top of the fiberglass bedside, the black plastic trim on the camper is completely suspended/untouched(about 3" away from the fiberglass bedside).

I've cut up a stock body before so this shouldn't feel too bad haha. I'll update on the blasphemy once I commit it.

    I did as you said.

My local Leer dealer told me it’s an older style cap from 2004 and Leer no longer makes these windows. He didn’t have anything there that could help either.

So… back to my original question. Does anyone have or know someone who has a passenger side window for an older (2004) Leer 180 cap?

So, a lot of Leer's newer caps (mid-2000s and up, "ish") have an overhang on the rail, similar to SnugTop. To go with another reputable major brand who focuses their attention to on-rail applications, you may want to look at ARE. Yes, there are companies like CTC/Century, Jason, and others who may have options out there, but they're generally smaller, so replacement parts when the inevitable happens are harder to come by, so I'd stick with Leer, SnugTop, or ARE. Just my 2¢. Older Leer caps also do the on-rail thing, but, as you can see with @Peediz, there are pitfalls there. I have no doubt there's probably a company out there that probably makes these windows, and if you go to an independent shell dealer not tied to any specific brand, they can probably help you find it. But it's extra legwork, and who wants that when you're dealing with an unfortunate situation?

I have a coworker with a 2012 Tacoma, he has a camper shell on it that he wants to sell. His Tacoma is not the full crew cab setup, but the short cramped backseat. Would that shell fit on my 2006 Tundra access cab?

I'm curious about going the camper shell route because I might want to get into truck bed camping. But I currently have a bed toolbox that is loaded full. I'd really hate to get rid of it. But I also know that I could find alternate storage methods for my toolbox stuff if I got this camper shell.

FWIW, the camper shell he is selling is darn near a perfect color match to my Tundra.

    Almost certainly not.

Not a shell but a shell topper. I would think it could be fitted to any gen. Wind Gap, PA - $600 454241710_340494589017740_14846369736893_8427ea871e235b0d0c485acdb85c3ea85154f4df.jpg

I would be very tempted to trade my shell to that person if they lived closer. I’ve been having some thoughts….

There are a couple softtoppers near me but for the money I'd rather get a used Flated Topper. Has more headroom and is more durable.

If it's any help to ya, I love my softopper. I got it used for like $600.
It's not water proof, but it's water resistant and the canvas itself won't leak, but water can find it's way into the bed other ways. Still isn't bad if you remember to throw down a tarp before your bedding.
It breathes nicely when the weather is mild to cool.
It's like a tent basically. So it's hot when it's hot and cold when it's cold.
I'd prefer a permanent hard top, but for now the softopper works for my needs. I only run it on camping trips. Easy to remove and install.

That ease of use is nice. The truck is a truck when needed but can also camo when needed. If I come across one at a killer price I'm sure I won't be able to resist lol.

That's what's nice about those platform setups. You can easily remove and store the platform, and even leave the verticals installed with the horizontals off if you need full access to the bed. For me, carrying yaks would be easier because I've already got the tiedowns needed for the crossbars.

I dunno. I love the idea, at least. I'm sure it's flawed somehow.
