    Greetings to all members
    I am posting from Libya.
where we used to buy used American trucks for years.
    bought a 2001. 5VZ. 4x2 Auto
(in auction was listed with mechanical issues)
    checked all wiring
    timing
edit; confirmed fuel pressure 40 psi.
all sensors have been tested on an other 5vz
the truck starts for few seconds and dies.
the only way to make it run and drive is to turn ignition ON for 75 min exactly. and then start the engine without returning the key to off. just turn it to start and it will crank, start, and run (idle). strange.
is it ECM or Wiring? n
one thing. factury alarm (RS3000) was canceled. all wires are cut an inch from original plugs, alarm ecu plugs.
and there are marks of aftermarket system which was removed too.
all wiring was re installed to work as a no alarm system truck.
any one have seen this before?

Quick WAG....any codes, in particular ones dealing with fuel rail/system pressure too low....fuel pump, fuel filter.
Also, are you able to drive and if so, when going up a hill how does it do, any stalling ?

When it does start, does it fire up immediately, or crank and crank and crank then stumble to life?

    the whole unit was removed.
original cable and wiring was removed. I found the Rs3200 ecu hanging there with nothing attached to it. only plugs.
update. removed the unit for pics and found out it is RS3000.

to save time and answer some of your questions.
truck was bought as it is now. 97k miles
    very good condition. no start
have been like this for a long time
I managed to start it and drive it after a complete check on all wiring. and mechanics.
fuse & relay box is damaged from previous owners. (accedint)
checked all wiring to and from relays. foung some damaged wires. and repaired them.
checked continuity for ECM wiring and F&R box all seems good.
    next step.
got a replacement fuse box with wiring loom to install them today.
thinking about re installation off original security system.emages to be uploaded later.

Wow. I just need to commend you on taking on that project. I've seen trucks more intact than that after sitting at a busy junkyard for over a month!

Looks like you have a hell of a task on your hands, and re-pinning the RS3000 is the least of concerns, assuming your pictures are current. Or is it more-assembled today?

already assembled. relay box replaced. same thing.
in fact it's on a test drive right now.
everything is back as it should be.
    except the security system.
still starts after 70 plus minutes.

The ~70 minutes thing is so bizarre to me. I'm trying to fathom what system in the vehicle would have some weird, arbitrary time window like that.

If this were an embedded device, like a computer or something, I'd swear there was a contact trace that was cracked, and allowing the system to warm up caused thermal expansion, closing the circuit.

But with a truck ... I don't really understand why that timeframe. I suppose it could be the immobilizer at play, but it's still just bizarre to me. I'll be very interested to hear whether re-attaching the RS3000 resolves the issue.

agree with you. the warming up thing could be any were in ignition system, integration relay block or ecm itself.
I am still looking for exact model truck to try my ecm on it.

    could this be the issue
    integration relay printed circuit
with possibility of shortcuts in previous relay&fuse box I don't know if this circuit can cause such a bizarre problem

If you don't see any visible signs of damage, I highly doubt it.

Over my time here on the forum, both a year or so lurking, and a couple years after join, I've only seen one case where it went bad, and it's because water got inside. The back of it had clear signs of green from the copper corrosion.

I agree with @empty_lord that best next-option is RS3000 reinstall.

    hello again.
any body done fuel pressure test on 5vz before.
I need confirmation of normal reading.
got 40 psi but it drops as soon as the engine dies.
I think the rail should stay pressurized longer. even with the engine off

Don't have an 01 FSM but a 5VZ should be 38-44 PSI and drop off to 21 PSI or more after eng stop, according to 03 FSM.

    thank you.
that confirm it is dropping way less than expected.
    next.. fuel pressure regulator.
i will try to prime the line be jump starting fuel pump while checking rail pressure.
and the 70 minutes thing has to be explained later. if it starts

I'm an '01 5VZ owner of 12 years, never heard of this 70 minute wait to start. Nothing in the software logic determines something like that.

Starting and stopping soon after is usually a MAF (clean it) and/or IAC (again clean it) problem. Yet the lack of alarm and transponder key could be a problem too.

A much better site for replies is: There are some serious experts on there. Look for 'The Durk'.

Here is a link to an FSM for the 5VZ: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1d6YRerc0Q3pplqwrdDoJJI60DbntrgaZ/view?usp=sharing

    Luck.

    Update
fuel pressure regulator was replaced with trusted one.
installed fuel pressure gauge directly on return line to confirm pump and line are ok. 80 psi
regulater is working. it holds upto 45.
ignition switch hot wired to eliminate it from the suspects list/no go
    still starts and stalls immediately.
even 70 min could not start it today.
    any more suggestions?
    thank you all

I'm still suspicios of immobilizer function of the RS3000, but maybe it's not.
