    Heylo,

Was curious if anyone on here is running the same suspension setup as me.I have a 4x4 2001 AC with Bilstein 5100s and OME 2885s along with 1.5" add a leaf in the rear. I am looking to upgrade to 33" tires, or 285/70/17 rather, and wanted to see if anyone has this setup already to see if I need to do any trimming or anything of that sort? The last thing I want is to buy new tires, have them not fit, then have to buy new parts or do a tremendous amount of trimming. I've also already checked out the forum with tire sizes and lifts but wanted to be more specific about my lift specifically as it is kind of unique here.

    Thank you!

@shifty` aren't the 2885's on an AC bad for some reason?
OP as far as tire size I would think 33s would fit maybe not without a bit of trimming or a good spacer but I'm not sure specifically on that lift setup.

Bad? I'd definitely hope not. Since upgrading, my suspension has been amazing both on and offroad. Like butta ;)

Something about it being a bit too much spring for an access cab. I know shifty knows all about it. Don't think it'll break anything just maybe extra stiff.

Hmmm... Hopefully the god @shifty` has some input. I just recall when I was putting my suspension on no one, including shifty, mentioned anything of the sort to me when I asked questions about my specific setup.

I would worry about front bumper rub the most. I have a similar setup and was thinking about doing the same thing. I’m pretty sure you will need spacers and worse comes to comes I will have a new bumper made.

I do have 1.25" wheel spacers on my troq to avoid hitting the UCA(too stingy to buy new ones). Otherwise it performs super well and makes me feel special for bringing it to three separate mechanics to put my struts together :duh:

Have you thought about skinnies? My 255x85xr16 with 1.25" spacers rub a tiny bit, but only because my caster is off. I'm sure they make a similar size in 17s.

I did the 2885 on 5100s and they lifted me waaay too high in the front end. Had that squat game but I have a v6 2WD. You have a v8 4WD and a 1.5" lift in the rear so I am sure you're fine. There is nothing wrong with the 2885s. I just didn't want that squat, so I swapped to 2884s.

Bad? No. But if you're not 4WD on AC, 2885s will leave you squatting pretty hard in the rear as @2006 Tundra AC found out on his 2WD/V6.

It's more about the lift aspect. For AC owners looking to level, 2885 is not the answer. Unless you plan to lift the rear 1.5-2" also with AAL or new leafs, 2885 on AC is not ideal. @evanhmn and @Dave8699 are both AC 4WD guys running 5100 w/2885s, we know it works, but both lifted their rears to compensate/kill rear squat.

Generally speaking, AC guys should stick with 2884 if only looking to level the front (assuming 4WD), or 2883 to level the front (assuming 2WD). If you're lifting the rear more than an inch, you may not like the "sport" rake you get with those shorter choices.

I mean ... I picked up some SPCs for $525 shipped a couple weeks ago, and as of Sunday they were still $484 before tax & ship ... Looks like they're up to $559 now, but it's still a steal for full-on SPC in an Eibach box...

I had a minor squat after the lift so I added the 1.5" add a leafs, and to substitute for the rake from those I have a homemade toolbox in the bed that weighs about 3-400 pounds. So it all evens out nicely now :)

I know... I know... I have passed up some good deals on UCAs this past month with Black Friday and Holiday sales. The reason being is I made a down payment on a front bumper which was costly, and I know I will be needing new tires by the end of the spring, hence the thread.

2006 DC. V8. 4x4. Just put on 5100 and OME 2885 last week (bottom clip). Along with all new control arms. Wheels are 16x8 and tires are Wildpeak AT3 265/75R/16. Rear is bone stock with new 5100s. I have a bit of rub only in reverse at full lock. I’m about 1/2” higher in front on level ground. I project the springs will settle a bit. I do have a spray in bed liner and rubber bed mat with and undercover tonneau.

285x75x16 here, with 2885s and eibach pro-trucks on the second from bottom clip, which are very comparable to the 5100s.

i have a slight rake with no topper and 2” lift blocks on stock springs. If I put my high rise (read HEAVY) topper, I’m about level.
