Checked with two of Largest online OEM Toyota Parts and see they have discontinued the
2WD transmission. Mine is a 2004 Toy Tundra SR5 that has begun to have slipping from 3rd to 4th Gear. Truck Has 186,000 miles about 65,000 was towing a boat. Was serviced per factory recommendations. Should have bought last month. Did not want to go down used route as you
never really know what you are going to get. Looking at Jasper Remanufactured trans as it has 3 years/100,000-mile warranty on Parts & Labor. Anyone has experience with these? TIA

All the more reason to buy 4wd you southerners. :D

J/K, but it does add value & desire when you sell your rust free vehicle to us yankees.

Haven't heard of Jasper, but I hear others speak highly of IPT Performance Transmissions.

I have a jasper transmission in my 2002, V6, RWD Tundra. Been trouble free since it was installed at 80K miles. Now at 350k miles...

My 2wd trans occasionally slips in first gear. If it goes I'll be doing the 4wd conversion. If it doesn't go, when I find time, I'll be doing the 4wd conversion.

Yes, it was always in Tow Mode on when towing except once when I towed my boat 550 miles when I moved. That trip it was 70-75 mph on interstate. Noticed lately it seem to take longer to shift through gears and seemed to take longer particularly in the 3rd to 4th shift. My mechanic (who is super excellent) when I brought in for regular maintenance and suggested BG transmission service as was 60,000 since Last trans service done at dealer (also BG). Drove a couple thousand miles but didn`t improve. Took to dealer (two weeks to appt.) and brought in. Young tech took and drove and said it shifted fine. Told him that I had told service rep that I wanted it hooked up to Tech Stream and test driven so I know for sure. This was done and he said showed was good. Did not have much confidence in dealer as he did not save screenshot of readings of Tech stream. Also have had right airbag replaced twice under warranty. This tech told me there were some airbag codes on of an unknown origin. No lights on dash. Strange. Seeing Tundra2 getting that kind of mileage out of a Jasper trans makes good case for the purchase. Will probably change radiator (Denso /Toy) out as is 18 years old and is probably brittle. This truck also had factory towing package since day one.
Only worry with this truck is discontinuation of parts may make future repair of this truck reliant on aftermarket parts which generally suck. Still have my Scheel Mann seats in the box with Wedge Seat adapters and trying to resolve air bag seat sensor issue on passenger seat (emulator/bypass). As always thanks for the input.

Your year is different than mine. I have an 02 v6. I’m currently running a 99 v6 4runner trans in mine. Works great. Pan is a little smaller but you can just change the oil more was my thinking. I don’t tow heavy loads often so a little less fluid didn’t worry me.

I was looking at oem first and talked myself into it. Then I realized I could buy a built stage 3 racing trans for about the same price. Before I bought the racing trans my neighbor convinced me to check a local yard… I ended up getting my trans for 120 otd with a 3 year warranty.

    Edit:nvm you said no used.
