'19 TRD Pro Keyless remote problem help

So my factory keys don't work very well. I had my locksmith check out the remotes themselves and they are putting out a strong signal so I know my keys aren't the issue. Sometimes when I get out of my truck and hit the lock button on the remote I'll have to hit it 4-6 times or more for it to lock. I hardly ever can get it to unlock all the doors with the unlock because it never reads the second unlock hit. Anyone experienced this? I'm just out of warranty and don't want to take it into the stealer. TIA

 

Is this only a problem in one location or all locations? I'm trying to eliminate radio interference.

Have you changed any of the interior or exterior lights to led?

 

I have but I was having this problem problem before also.

 

Can you run the app to lock/unlock? If so does the problem go away?

Its part of Toyota's Connected Services. It allows you to unlock/lock and remote start your truck. Its subscription based but you can activate the trial if you haven't done so already.

I am trying to eliminate the locks from the equation. Its unlikely its the problem but it may help narrow in on the issue.

 

if you put a LED in the cargo light it will cause what you are describing. although i see you said you were having issues before hand. i have to leave the cargo light switch in the off position to get proper function with the key fob

 

Definitely not an actuator problem. They work from the button 20 times in a row.

 

I will try turning this off just to make sure it's not my problem.

 

Unless yours is a push button start, app won't work.
Almost every time someone here has had this problem it's been an LED in the cargo light.

 

hmm. wonder why LEDs in those lights cause this problem. There has to be a way around it.

 

The antenna for your wireless is in there. Certain LED lights create EMI. There are LED lights that fit in there that do not.

 

Which ones do not. The LEDs made a huge difference in the light output. I'd like to keep LEDs there.

 

Just had the wife check my truck. Must have been the LEDs in the cargo lamps (although I swore I had this problem before I put the LEDs in there). She said the keyless works fine now.

I put cheap Amazon LED on my cargo lights and although remote still works but the distance significantly shorten.

 

I have this exact problem with my Tacoma, also have LED's internal. Was bugging the crap out of me why it was not working well. Also the door touch areas would randomly not work and I'd sit there rubbing the door handle praying the damn thing would lock.... I'll try to turn off the cargo light as well and see what happens. Also nice to know before I go buying my LED's for the Tundra
