I have a decision to make rather quickly.

The 2020 Tundra with 23K miles I bought will be over the 3yr warranty mark. This aslo means I can no longer purchase the Toyota extended warranty.

So for $1500, I can add the Toyota Platinum 10yr/100k warranty. It has a zero deductible and covers everything except wear and tear items.

Seems like just about anything costs $1,000 to $1500 anymore? Sure I could save money monthly for a just in case situation, but it would only take 1 issue to basically pay for the warranty?

I'd much rather buy something that makes me look cool in the bed bath and beyond parking lot, but I need to decide. What do you guys think?

What do they consider "wear and tear"?

Does it include windshield replacements and or Paintless Dent Repair? I got bumper to bumper that included the above on my wife’s Subaru. We’ve had 2 windshield replacements and a radiator replaced so it was worth it. Having said that it depends on what it covers and what breaks. It’s a gamble, but at least it is a predictable expense. :notsure:

This is probably how it will go:
If you don't get it, the wheels will fall off in a year.
If you get it, the truck will run forever with no major issues.
I've purchased extended/extra warranty on the last 2 trucks with the mindset of, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Like mentioned, one repair and it pays for itself.

Post the actual agreement for the warranty if you have it.. Fine print can be fun.

I'd do it. Just one thing going wrong will have you break even and/or come out ahead. I've had to use my extended warranty a couple times and it paid for itself the first time then everything after was bonus feel good

It's good insurance against the laws of nature.
Have something in the garage for 7 yrs and finally decide you'll never use it and toss it. Within 36 hrs you need it for something.
Keep a tool or piece of gear in the truck for 2 yrs because it's a "just-in case" item. Clean the truck out one day and leave it home because,....I've never used this once. Get 40 mi from home and,....yep, you need it.
Don't buy the extended warranty because "everything's a scam" and you're cheap. At 37 months you need a $2800 repair.
Not sure how everyone else's life goes, but these things have been exactly how everything always goes in my life for as long as I can remember.
    Long story, longer,......buy the warranty.
If the universe has taught me anything about it's rules,.....as long as you have something, you won't need it.

LMAO.... This could not be any more truer. I had a took box and my big jack in the bed of the truck for years. The day I took them out and forgot about them, had to do the 2 mile walk of shame to get my spare car with jack and tools, because I got a flat tire. I'm sure the jack stands were laughing at me, because that's the only thing I left tied up in the bed. Either way, hole on the tire was too big, so I had to take the tire in the passenger seat to the shop. It was too big to fit in the trunk.. LOL

Do it. When my water pump on my 2010 needed a replacement… Toyota charged $98/gallon for their red coolant.

    worth it.

    That's a good price. I bought the 10yr 125 for $2400. 2 months ago Toyota platinum vsa.
If purchasing over the phone from a non local dealership make sure it's zero deductible if you take it to any Toyota dealership. I had one quote me with a cheaper price but it was zero deductible only if warranty work was done at that toyota dealership. Weird

Keep in mind if you mod the truck they're going to do anything possible to blame mods and not cover it and give you a hassle.

    Not enough....
I bought a Toyota specifically because I didn't want to buy those warranties. And, I do nearly all my own work.

But if it helps you sleep better at night then it's worthwhile. Go for it.

If you're asking (considering it), then you'll find yourself w/more piece of mind by having it. The $1500 price point is not bad considering, and one of the benefits is that as parts/labor go up, your up front cost is locked in and you won't be at the financial mercy of the dealer as parts become more difficult to source.

Another benefit is that these warranties are transferrable, so it will add value to your vehicle if you decide to sell before it expires or at least give you room to negotiate your transaction. If you decide to not transfer it, you can be reimbursed pro-rated for the time/mileage not used

For $1500, a warranty for a 2020 truck almost out of 3 years/36K miles, I would do it.
I bought a 7-year/100K mile extended warranty for my 2005 and 2014 when new, although I never used either one of them.
Didn't need to, they never broke down.
But with both, I was at a time in my life when I didn't have much money saved for emergencies due to financial situations.
The money spent on both of the extended warranties was worth the piece of mind if I needed it.

I have more saved now, thankfully.
But as stated, any major repair is going to cost over $1500.
I'd go for it if you plan on keeping the truck awhile..

I'm gonna go against the grain here.
I've taken 4 Tundras over 100K with 0 problems. The Tundras miles were heavy ass towing, 8K all day every day, 90% of the time
Wife had a 4Runner and Camry all over 100k with 0 issues.
Your truck with just oil changes will laugh at 100K miles.

Your buying insurance and we know how much money insurance companies make.
