I must be brain dead today, but I can’t seem to figure this switch situation out.

I bought a set of the Nilight bed lights off of Amazon, which come with a pigtail that has a "waterproof pushbutton switch" already built into the harness. I do not want to use their switch and I cut it off and planned on wiring to a standard 12 V rocker switch in the bed. Of course the mistake I made was predrilling a hole, and now i'm worried I won't be able to use it.

Their harness has three wires on the end. A 12v+, a ground, and switch lead which is 2-conductor and has a red and black wire. I wired the 12v+ and ground to my rocker switch. When I connect the Nilight switch's red to the load input on the rocker switch by itself (leaving black disconnected), I get no light output. When I connect the red and black together to the load input, I get constant LEDs on no matter what position the switch is in. When I connect the black to ground and the red to load input, I get no light output.

What am I missing here? How do I wire this up so that the lights function with the rocker switch?

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
So you are wiring the 2 conductor wires R/B to your lights - should work if switch is getting hot and ground unless switch is bad.

The two reds from the switch is your circuit. The black from the switch just grounds the LED indicator from the switch.
