Had anyone ever had the 12 V battery charging system malfunction come up on your tundra? I have a 2022 limited off-road package. Bought it used with 28,000 miles. Drove it from IL to NC 750 miles not a single hiccup. A week ago I got the message and some flashing lights on my dash. Got a “new” lifetime battery replacement. Still showing up. Had a light bar installed by the previous owner the second Toyota dealership I was at told me that this was the issue, disconnected it and said the truck was fine. Truck started up but showed 9 V on the voltage meter then my power steering went out. They say it’s not the alternator but I saw a previous post that said the dealerships the other poster went to said that the truck was fine just like mine. The second dealership said that the battery that was replaced was an older stock battery from 2023 so that also could be the issue but my gut is telling me alternator. Any info or help would be great thanks.

Check that your battery cables are securely attached on both ends. The taps used for light bar may have messed up the main connections.

No way to diagnose remotely, but I can’t see how it would be the battery if it will start the truck. Put an actual volt meter on it. The dash thing is probably more of an idiot light.
When the truck is off you should show ~12.3 or more if the battery is good (unless you’ve already depleted it if the alternator is bad) . When it’s running, it should show slightly higher indicating the alternator is charging the battery.

Forgot to add after turning the truck off it wouldn’t start back up fast clicking ticking but would not start. But accessories worked truck just wouldn’t turn over.

Well if the alternator isn’t charging, it would have been running off the battery, depleting it.

Do you have a charger? You could charge the battery and see if it will hold the charge.

Or jump it to start. If it won’t stay running it’s the alternator. If it will stay running, it’s not.

I jumped it to start and it would*** stay on until I killed it. Then when trying to start it again I would need to jump it off.

Check the battery connections as @JayDee pointed out. Might be a good enough connection for accessories but not starting.

Being that your volt guage is showing 9v while engine is running indicates that its not charging. At least swing by auto zone or somewhere that can check the charging system (for free). Its quite possible the alternator is gone,,and possibly from whatever lights were installed.
